Precisely why certain arguments on FR become frustrating (maybe I'm just cranky): a declarative statement was made that the Federal government "has no right to hold property." I demonstrated it to be incorrect by citing the U.S. Constitution.

If you wish to change the argument to the feds holding too much land, or for too long, then you will have to find someone who believes the opposite.

They do have a Constitutional power, not right-people have rights, to own land for needful things like navy yards, military compounds, post offices and the like. There is no enumerated power to hold land for the sake of hoarding it and keeping citizens out.
