Flat on his belly in a sniper position, wearing a baseball cap and a flak jacket, a protester aimed his semi-automatic rifle from the edge of an overpass and waited as a crowd below stood its ground against U.S. federal agents in the Nevada desert.
He was part of a 1,000-strong coalition of armed militia-men, cowboys on horseback, gun rights activists and others who rallied to Cliven Bundy's Bunkerville ranch, about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, in a stand-off with about a dozen agents from the federal Bureau of Land Management.
The rangers had rounded up hundreds of Bundy's cattle, which had been grazing illegally on federal lands for two decades. Bundy had refused to pay grazing fees, saying he did not recognize the government's authority over the land, a view that attracted vocal support from some right-wing groups.
Citing public safety, the BLM retreated, suspending its operation and even handing back cattle it had already seized.
No shots were fired during the stand-off, which Bundy's triumphant supporters swiftly dubbed the "Battle of Bunkerville," but the government's decision to withdraw in the face of armed resistance has alarmed some who worry that it has set a dangerous precedent and emboldened militia groups....

People should read Ray Raphael’ article in American History Magazine. It chronicles the efforts of the universal militia in Massachusetts, especially Worcester County in 1774 to defy the Coercion Acts, face down Gage’s redcoats in Salem and setting the stage for The April Morn.
Leftist seem to forget that our nation was founded by Christian right wing extremist gun nuts.
Flat on his belly in a sniper positionThat's how I sleep.
Public safety my ass, it was the realization that their hides were going to be some of the ones that were about be punctured that caused them to pull in their horns.
Once it became clear to them* that this was not going to be another Waco where they got their rocks off shooting unarmed women and children, suddenly it was not near as much fun as when it began.
* I understand that it was the FBI agents that shot the women and children at Waco, but the members of both the BLM and FBI are agents of the Government.
Guess they didn’t think enough of the photo of the Fed’s snipers on the hill to put up and comment.
* I understand that it was the FBI agents that shot the women and children at Waco,
and the BATF (initial assault).
Add Wesley Clark to the mix, and there's no such law as Posse Comitatus (USC 10).
Act accordingly.

That's true when they are inconvenient for the left, or no the left longer agrees....
Obamacare, Fast & Furious, Benghazi, IRS, come to mind.....there are many more too numerous to count. But I guess that doesn't matter
You know how them white folks gets when they start fightin' with one another.
Change or get use to it. We want our country back...
AARGH! Cubie bound and can't stop laughing! Everybody looking at me funny now.
BUNKERVILLE ............. BUNKER HILL
This has been sadly neglected to the point that the states are now going to have to act, or the people will be the last line of defense to stop the march into bondage.
Just remember, even a rabbit will fight, if cornered, and the American people tain’t no rabbits.
What law enforcement operation? I didn’t know that the BLM had any right to law enforcement in any state. It’s not their jurisdiction, it’s the county sheriff, and I don’t think he duputized them. Doesn’t that make it an illegal opration as well as unconstitutional?
Do laws no longer apply when the radical right no longer agrees?
***************************************************
That’s been the case for the radical left for decades. Laws don’t apply to them, and when they need a legal cover, they just make up the law.
What’s good for the Goose?
That’s the $64-dollar question all right (wait, am I dating myself here?) - where do all of these agencies derive the authority to form, much less field, private armies? These guys were kitted out like space invaders. Do we really want Ranger Rick to carry an Uzi?
USMC at one time required everyone to qualify at six hundred with iron sights.
My kids were taught to be comfortable with standard NATO rounds as well as the .243. My daughter was routinely hitting 55 gallon drums center mass with 5.56 and 7.62 at five hundred by the time she was fourteen. My son got there by the time he was fifteen.
There's no magic to it, just desire and practice. Yeah, you might burn through a lot of brass, powder, and bullets, to get there but that's where you have to be if you want to use a weapon instead of looking good carrying one around.
If they're going to be on your toes get used to picking fragments out of yourself and use grenades along with something like 9mm with full auto available.
Back day when I was on a cultural enrichment vacation the best I could do was an old M2 with a somewhat cranky selector; and I had to buy that from our Kit Carson. M1 Carbine ammo was never a problem, though, in fact they seemed glad to be getting rid of it and dished it out in surprising quantities to a platoon with exactly one weapon using that round.
I'm not bustin' your chops, I really just don't see how the range makes this "propaganda" in your mind. Explain further if you feel the need.

No I don't want any of the Federal Government over reach. Probably ought to repeal most of the US Federal code back to about 1800, and start over.LOL
I would be perfectly happy for our State Government to take care of the State's business and boot the Feds out. We are one of the few states to come through the financial crisis with our AAA rating in place.
The Feds have obtained their way for years by use of the carrot and stick. Dangling Federal money, then threatening to withdraw it, and as debt piles up, they are turning from coercion to outright force.
There's more people mad and sick of it than at any time in my lifetime.
A rifle behind every blade of grass.
