I guess that’s one way to look at it. OTOH if abortion were 100% government run women would have to wait 10 months for an appointment.
Many women choose abortion because of convenience. They actually have to plan ahead to use contraceptives to avoid pregnancy, while, with abortion easily available, they don’t have to worry—they can indulge their mood spontaneously, whenever they want, and “take care” of little details afterwards. Some women choose abortion because they think it is safer and more “natural” than contraceptives.
Either way, if they had to pay for their own abortions at several hundred dollars a pop, they might be a little more responsible. It costs, what, $9 a month for the pill? That is way more cost-effective than the use of abortion as primary birth control.
