There is a young person held captive in Massachusetts today who is not allowed to participate in religious ceremonies, or visit family without government agents watching.
No, its not accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Its 15-year-old mitochondrial disease patient and nonterrorist Justina Pelletier.
U.S. District Court Judge George OToole Jr. ruled Wednesday that the now-20-year-old charged with four deaths and injuring more than 260 people should be able to see his sisters without an FBI agent present. The feds can appeal, but he says their case would have to be pretty convincing.
Can you believe it? That was Jennifer Pelletiers response when I told her about the ruling. Shes Justinas older sister and every visit she has with her wheelchair-bound sister is held under the watchful eye of agents from both the states Department of Children and Families and since the story went national armed state police. The family is only allowed one visit a week, for one hour a week, with their own sick daughter.
Its hard for me to say this, Justinas father Lou told me Wednesday, but a terrorist is getting better treatment in Massachusetts right now than a sick teenager whos done nothing wrong.
And thats the source of rage among Justinas supporters. Shes the one whos suffering and all she did was come down with an illness. Is it the same mitochondrial disorder that her sister Jessica has? That was the diagnosis during the two years she was treated by doctors at Tufts.
Or is the rare and controversial diagnosis of somatoform the right one, as determined by a doctor after less than an hour at Boston Childrens Hospital? Thats the diagnosis the Pelletier family rejected, choosing instead to return their daughter to Tufts a choice...

This soooo reminds me of the Terri Shiavo murder. And again, all it would take is for the governor to do the right thing.
Welcome to the new Amerika.
I’ve been open to the possibility that there’s something wrong with her parents and the state has good reason for keeping her. But no charges have been filed against them, no evidence that I’ve seen that the parents are wacko. The judge’s latest decision awarded custody to the state essentially because the Pelletiers weren’t nice to the people who had taken their daughter. After the showdown at the Bundy ranch I wonder how long average citizens will tolerate this sort of thing.
I thought the parents got her back? What the hell happened?
This is truly disturbing. I do hope Dershowitz is involved in getting it right.
All good socialists believe the children belong to the state and that only the state can raise the children best.
This is beyond disgusting. And it should sicken every good American as to how far this country has fallen.
I remember this case. Some children need protection and families need help, but unfortunately a lot of CPS workers are power and control freaks with the backing of the gov’t.
Red England is loaded with such people...control freaks to the MAX.
“In the latest twist to the yearlong battle over the sick teens treatment, a Massachusetts judge has given the states Department of Children and Families permanent custody.
Judge Joseph Johnston lashed out at the Pelletiers in his four-page decision, citing their bullying, verbal threats and continuing campaign for media attention despite a gag order.”

So if you become verbal against a hospital and CPS when they take your child away, this is what happens.
In reading the whole article, and being Catholic as her family and Justina are— the herald rightfully asks where is the Catholic church? Help this family! Help her attend Easter Mass like her family requested! Has a Priest been allowed to speak with her? HER Priest, probably from Ct? It says they are devout, where is their home diocese? Help this family!!
This is beyond disgusting. And any parent who would bring their child to Boston Children’s Hospital should have their head examined.
