Kimbrough, 17, who has a 3.5 GPA and belongs to her school’s prize-winning debate team, says she’s making a stand for herself and other minority applicants.

“It represents a bigger struggle than just me — making the community more diverse in a multitude of ways,” she said. “I know that is what U-M stands for. But the university cannot say it’s (diverse) if it doesn’t have equal representation.”

I love how they argue that admitting more blacks will improve Michigan by making it more “diverse” (I never quite understood how this has anything to do with improving anyone’s education, but okay) - and then they turn right around and form a Black Student Union. So much for diversified interaction on campus.
