Oversight member on Lois Lerner: ‘Now I see why IRS is scared to give up emails’

Key members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform expressed outrage at revelations made in newly released emails showing ex-IRS official Lois Lerner coordinating with the Department of Justice on prosecuting nonprofit groups.

One committee member said the emails prove why the IRS is “scared to give up the rest of Lois Lerner’s emails.” IRS commissioner John Koskinen was recently threatened with contempt for stonewalling the committee’s investigation. Koskinen claimed in a hearing that it could take years to provide the documents requested by Oversight.

“The release of new documents underscores the political nature of IRS Tea Party targeting and the extent to which supposed apolitical officials took direction from elected Democrats,” Oversight chairman Rep. Darrell Issa said in a statement. “These e-mails are part of an overwhelming body of evidence that political pressure from prominent Democrats led to the targeting of Americans for their political beliefs.”

“Now I see why the IRS is scared to give up the rest of Lois Lerner’s emails,” said Oversight Economic Growth subcommittee chairman Rep. Jim Jordan.

Don’t you think the body of evidence gathered so far has moved these searches into the province of reasonable?

Did you see my solution? “bust out the porch light”.

IE, remove these unconstitutional agencies.

This hypocrisy isn't just in the press.. Talk to ANY liberal and they squirm and change the subject to more comfortable ground for them. The average liberal is willing to toss the constitution under the bus rather than admit the dems are doing something wrong. Much like Nazi Germany. It was easier to say the Jews were sub-human and should be killed than to admit yours is the party of monsters.

Hopefully off somewhere to sober up after posting what has to be in the running for “dumbest thing said on the Internet this week”

Oh, it's in the running for that award for sure. I always wonder about a post like that…was it just a pre coffee brain lapse? (We all have those). Or was it an attempt to be smarter than anyone else in the room simply by being counter intuitive? (not a becoming habit) - or maybe a pro life pro marriage liberal who has no conservative instincts outside of social issues (Lotta Freepers in this camp) - or maybe a liberal troll visiting. Methinks must be one of those.

That’s what happens when you pin your own righteousness on what ideology you support.

Mmmmmm.......seems to me we have one saving grace----Obama/Dummycrats desperation over possibly losing majorities in 2014 midterms.

Apparently the Dummies' internals look positively abysmal....b/c the external polls we are getting are down on Dummies bigtime.

Ergo, I would not be surprised if desperate Dumbos ----scared of losing their seats----ganged-up on Obama and told him to hold off the hateful Lib/Prog agenda a bit---hoping that'll raise their poll numbers.

Actually, with some internal search features, it is almost instantaneous.

Actually, these flames have been fanned by Issa, Gohmert, and some others.

My solution is oversimplified given the political situation,
but it’s what must be done to rectify the situation where
lefties get into positions of unaccountable power and abuse them for political advantage.

Maybe Lerner comes from the same planet as Valerie Jarett.

They need to get warrants and send in cops to grab servers and break things (and heads).
Too bad Holder and the Department of Just Us is on Lerner’s side.

As much as I hate Lerner, I also do not want the Constitution violated in going after her. “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated.” - 4th Amendment. Papers and effects covers emails and phone conversations. The NSA is violating the Constitution and so is anyone who obtains these records without a court order.

An e-mail on a government computer is the property of the government. If you want "personal" effects, then don't use the government computer.

Lois Lerner went after the Tea Party using government equipment. She has NO privacy interest in those e-mails. Those were public documents the moment they were sent.

NONE!

“Her work emails are not protected, her private address, yes but not her gov’t email.”

She also used her personal computer for government business,,,, against regulations. So anything involving her own computer should be available under FOIA. IMO.

If this was a Conservative official who emailed BIBLE verses, you bet your life they’d have ZERO respect for ‘privacy’ and drum them out A.S.A.P.
