I was just thinking of some of the stories Daddy told about post war Berlin. They were restoring the infrastructure and a lot of buildings. They hired Germans to do a lot of the work.

He said the German workers, worked so hard they would sometimes have to slow them down. They paid them in military money. If I remember right it was marked Alliet Military Behorden or something similar. They also fed the workers but deducted the cost of the meals from their salary.

My mother had a beautiful soprano voice - I heard it often in my youth. Songs that I have not heard since. In her later years, she resumed playing piano and we heard them once again.

I treasure those memories!
