Top House conservatives are pressuring Republican leaders to bring an ObamaCare replacement bill to a vote by the August recess.
Conservatives cheered when Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) pledged a vote during the House GOPs annual retreat in January, viewing the commitment as a central element of the partys vow to be the alternative party and not merely stand in opposition to President Obama.
Yet 10 weeks later, party leaders have given no indication when they might present a plan or what form it will take.
Conservatives like Rep. Steve Scalise (La.), chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), are pushing for a vote by the time lawmakers leave town for five weeks at the end of July. At the end of the day, we feel its really important to bring a bill to the floor that is a true replacement to the presidents healthcare law, Scalise said in a phone interview Tuesday. Look, leaderships come a long way in the last six months on that, and were continuing to talk to them to try to get to a point where we actually have a vote on the House floor by the August recess.
Scalise wants the party to adopt a single, comprehensive replacement for ObamaCare, but party leaders have not signed off on that approach. In recent weeks, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has suggested the House might vote instead on a series of healthcare bills.
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has shied away from making any commitment at all, appearing to downplay the importance of holding a floor vote within a specific timeframe.
At a press conference last week, Boehner said Cantor and other top Republicans are trying to build a consensus over what an alternative would look like.

“GOP right: Wheres the Obamacare replacement bill?”
How about trying freedom?
0bama needs to cough up a replacement plan.
Well I think I have discovered the problem. The GOP must go on the offensive in January...

The Hills very own Russell Berman drove 800 miles in this SmartCar rental, all the way to the West Virginia/Ohio border to cover the House race of a candidate who, naturally, believes global warming is total and complete bullshit, and cars like this are ruining his districts economy.(You dont really have to worry about speeding, because it doesnt go about 50, and parking is never a problem). And to you, Avis Rental Car, with your small selection of wares at your downtown location
The criminal element have been bombarding us with media telling us the healthcare system is broken and needs to be replaced, nothing is perfect and adjustments and improvements are needed but these criminals wanted to trash the entire system so they will have control of the money it generates as well as control of certain sectors of society so to make if FAIR, JUST and EQUAL. They could care less about your health and well being
The replacement plan has been proposed over and over again,
but the left can’t fathom that it IS a plan because it REMOVES government involvement instead of increasing it.
Liberals have said that voting to repeal Obamacare, if it ever succeeded, would take us back to the allegedly bad status quo which existed prior to Obamacare.
So, flame away, but I think it makes sense to vote on a bill which shows what the GOP plan to replace Obamacare with is.
Low information types, and those who watch the MSM, think Obamacare is working to solve some problems with healthcare, even though there was a rocky rollout. The GOP should have alternatives and campaign on that, in my opinion, not just campaign on repealing Obamacare.
RE: Well I think I have discovered the problem. The GOP must go on the offensive in January...
Here’s the real problem -— Repealing Obamacare and going back to the status quo is not enough.
Most People DO want the former status quo to be IMPROVED because healthcare cost under the former status quo was ALSO GOING UP ( not as much as what will happen under Obamacare, but STILL GOING UP ).
Therefore, we need to repeal Obamacare. But telling people -— “oh yeah, let’s go back to what things were before” is not a winning message. You’re only opening yourself up to the accusation that you don’t have a plan and you’re just the party of ‘No’.
So, a REPEAL and REPLACE plan is obviously the winning message.
What we are waiting for is a viable REPLACEMENT plan that will:
* Transition us out of the current mess we have.
* Be an improvement over the former status quo.
There are many proposals being given, but the GOP has not coalesced on ONE UNIFIED plan. THAT plan is what we need.
Exactly. Where is the Get-the-Federal-Government-the-Hell-Out-of-the-Insurance-and-Healthcare-Industry Bill? Not only do we need to repeal ObamaCare, we also need to repeal other federal laws that place limits on FSA contributions, prohibit us from purchasing insurance in other states, or prevent us from forming HSAs.
“Top House conservatives are pressuring Republican leaders to bring an ObamaCare replacement bill to a vote by the August recess.”
Why does there have to be an Obembacare replacement bill?
I did not see any problems with the healthcare industry BEFORE Obembacare! Let’s go back to the way things were and if people do not have health insurance it is their tough-luck if they do not want to work and pay for their own health care! Why do working people have to pay for the leeches who simply do not want to work?

RE: I did not see any problems with the healthcare industry BEFORE Obembacare!
Unfortunately many people DO see a problem of our healthcare industry before Obamacare.
A lot were not satisfied with the GROWING HEALTHCARE cost then. Many more were dissatisfied with problems like pre-existing conditions.
So, simply saying “He let’s go back to the way things were before” isn’t going to cut it. IT WON’T WIN.
You need a message that says — Yes. We will IMPROVE on what we used to have.
RE: The replacement plan has been proposed over and over again,
Well, if so, FORMALIZE IT and coalesce and UNITE on it the same way we did under Gingrich’s very successful CONTRACT WITH AMERICA in 1994.
Paul Ryan wants to address healthcare for illegals first in a series of smaller bills.
Because DC corrupts and warps everyone who's sent there. They lose sight of what we want, which would be for the gov to get the *ell out of health insurance. And that includes Medicare parts B and D.
The Feral Government does not have to take over the entire health insurance industry to solve the problems that existed before Soetoro ascended to the throne. Obamacare did little to solve the pre-existing condition issue because a set amount of money was put in a pool and that money runs out. I am forced to be on Medicare due to my age and retirement status, so how is that Fair??? Insurance is not supposed to cover every pill & office visit - that is breaking the Bank — but watch how those evil Repubs will be labeled as insensitive uncaring racist, sexist boobs for not giving away the FARM.
WHY DOES THERE NEED TO BE A REPLACEMENT BILL?
Let’s try getting the government clear out of the healthcare business. Like is used to be. Like it should be.
Just sayin’
