INCUMBENT LIBERAL MAY WIN GOP NOD, BUT CHALLENGES LOOM
Big government backer Lindsey Graham (RINO-S.C.) is likely to win the GOP nomination for another term in the U.S. Senate when South Carolina Republicans go to the polls in June.
In fact the liberal lawmaker may claim the GOP nomination outright without having to compete in a two-week runoff election (in South Carolina, major party candidates who fail to receive more than 50 percent of the vote on the primary ballot must face off against their nearest competitor in a head-to-head runoff matchup two weeks later).
But just because Graham clears his first major hurdle doesnt mean hes a shoo-in for a third term in Washington, D.C.
In fact fresh polling from Winthrop University underscores Grahams challenge with general election voters in South Carolina.
According to the results of the latest Winthrop poll, Grahams approval rating among registered voters is only 39.6 percent. Meanwhile 43.8 percent of respondents disapprove of the job he is doing.
Those are weak numbers for any candidate but Grahams problems are compounded by the fact he is facing a credible, well-funded Democrat (State Senator Brad Hutto) and in all likelihood a credible fiscally conservative independent (former GOP State Treasurer Thomas Ravenel).
Grahams primary opponents also arent giving up their fight just yet.
Senator Graham is avoiding debates that he previously committed to. His team is pressuring donors to not give to any of his opponents. Hes all over TV. Hes campaigning like never before, and writing specific legislation to get billionaire Super PAC funding, a spokeswoman for the campaign of GOP challenger Bill Connor told FITS. The important question is not whether we think he can lose: That goes without saying. We wouldnt be here if we didnt think hes vulnerable.

“...but Grahams problems are compounded by the fact he is facing a credible, well-funded Democrat.”
Huh? SENATOR GRAHAM is a well-funded Democrat (in all but party affiliation).
A loss of a Senate Seat to a Rat is bad. I hope a primary challenger takes this festering pustule out.

Yes, the article should have said “...he is facing ANOTHER well-funded Democrat...”.
So people are going to rush out to vote for him in the primary when they dont even want him in the main election?
If we can take down lInsay-girl and McConnel it will be HUGE
We have to help them do that~!
Or else they will be right that the TEA party is losing steam
If we can't even count on the Republicans in South Carolina to step up and pay the *(#@ attention and do the right thing and send Lindsey packing, then America is just not worth saving.
It may just end up being a nasty rear-guard (not intended to be funny) action until the end of our days.
I could live with losing the Senate if Graham and McConnell are gone. We can dispatch both and get the Senate in my view though.
Political incompetents who lack the wit to understand that have enabled the Romney/McCain wing of the party to take over the leadership.
No idiot who spouts that crap is going to do so anymore without attracting the ridicule the position merits.
Yes, you have made it clear that you wanted socialized medicine and you want open borders. We get it Zulu. You will vote for candidates pushing legislation in that direction.
Others of us will oppose those goals of yours even though that means we vote for someone outside the Republican party.
Keep them coming, Cotton. Good work.
Graham must go at any cost.
“Yes, you have made it clear that you wanted socialized medicine and you want open borders. We get it Zulu. You will vote for candidates pushing legislation in that direction.”
WHAT PLANET HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING ON?? Go back and check my prior posts before you start babling like that. I NEVER supported open borders, socialized medicine OR Linda Graham. And its ZULU - as in JAG, not zulu.
Aww. Poor ZULU doesn't want to be held accountable for the implications of his stupid rhetoric.
Too damned bad. You did every single one of those things in endorsing Lindsay Graham, over voting a candidate who might not be a Republican but opposes Obamacare and Amnesty.
This is how it works: Each person is accountable for endorsing the positions that the candidates they support vote for and work to get through the legislative process.
You have not been accused of anything you are not doing.
The mental gymnastics you go through to attempt to justify yourself are stupid and other people are sick and tired of idiots who live in such fantasy worlds trying to get us to play along.
If you do not want to be held accountable for something, do not stump for a candidate who legislates for that thing.
So simple, anyone can understand it.
Ridicule thoroughly deserved.
A few points, I’ll preface them be reiterating that I think Graham is a POS and he can drop dead for all I care.
1)I’ve said it before, no one cares but I’ll say it again, we need someone besides Lee Bright to make a runoff with Graham. Bright is about as strong a challenger as Steve Stockman was to Cornhole, Graham would beat him, probably by a wide enough margin to make you sick. There are 2 other serious candidates, Richard Cash and Nancy Mace. The consensus seems to be that Cash is a better candidate but FWIW Mace has consistently polled a little better. Both of them unfortunately clearly trail Bright for 2nd place. Even if Bright somehow made it to November he’d be at least as vulnerable as Graham, which brings me to point 2.
2)I wouldn’t fear-monger about a 2nd tier democrat winning this race just because he’s not a desultory piece of garbage like their last Senate candidate. The ONLY way he could beat any Republican is if a third party challenger takes enough Republican votes which bring me to point 3.
3)This is the first I’ve heard about Thomas Ravenel running as an Independent, isn’t he a convicted cokehead? I read just now that he apparently has a reality show on Bravo. That heavily implies that any talk of running is pure BS to boost ratings, in any case give me a break.
SOL said it best: “I want Graham gone...”
Graham is terrible...for no discernible reason.
I suggest we stop posting replies specifically about linda and instead concentrate our efforts and $$ on a candidate that has what it takes to keep linda under 50% in the primary and then win in the general election. IMHO.
