Democratic Governor Pat Quinn is facing some early trouble from his Republican challenger in Rasmussen Reports first look at the 2014 gubernatorial race in Illinois.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Illinois Voters shows Republican businessman Bruce Rauner picking up 43% of the vote to Quinns 40%. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate in the race, while 10% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

3% is within what Mark Steyn likes to call the “margin of lawyer”.
Margin of deceased voters.
Forget it. A Republican would have to be up >8% to overcome Democratic fraud on election day in Illinois.
Rahm Emmanuel will just create as many phoney voters in Chicago as he needs to allow the Democrat Pig to win.
“Forget it. A Republican would have to be up >8% to overcome Democratic fraud on election day in Illinois.”
Keep in mind, though, that republicans held the governorship of Illinois for 25 years straight, until corrupt governor Ryan. The people of Illinois are not avers to voting republican for governor.

Huh?...whu?...Am I still in Oklahoma, Auntie Em?
Voting for George Ryan was the last vote I cast in IL before leaving. At the time, there were plenty of statewide Republican figures. We had one of the two Senate seats and a pretty good foot in the door in the Governor’s mansion. Since then, I don’t think a single GOP candidate has won statewide.
Mark Kirk did in 2010. But that’s not saying much.
If the leader of this race isn’t a conservative or fair bit more conservative than the other guy it doesn’t really matter.
Any endorsements by the Heritage Foundation, Sarah Palin, the NRA, or other conservative groups?
Wonder if they’ve already prepared a cell in the State Pen for the winner?
Margin of voter fraud. He will lead by 5% until 90% of the ballots are in and then he loses by 3%.
“Rauner” is to “Republican” as “Bloomberg” is to “Republican”.
Warming up in the bullpen!
Rauner is a RINO...but a smart one. He made 52 mill last year. Maybe he can stop the economic bleeding here. Quinn is not only a democrat but like Durbin he’s a dummy. In Illinois politics somehow dim bulbs can rise to the top.
“Rauner is a RINO” and also has been a big donor to the Democratic Party.
This Illinois Governor race is a no win situation.
Rauner is Rahm’s bestie. Rauner is a Democrat pretending to be a Republican.
Careful, Cletus. Too many FReepers aren’t aware of IL politics and the “Combine.” They actually think Rauner ISN’T a Democrat.
