The veto came after Perry urged the DA to resign following an April 2013 drunk-driving incident for which she pled guilty and served time in jail, according to the Dallas Morning News.

KVUE-TV reported that Perry has hired a criminal defense lawyer.

Lehmberg pled guilty to driving while intoxicated and was sentenced to 45 days in jail.
Wow, 45 days? Must not have been her first DWI.

This whole “grand jury” ploy is a Nothingburger.

A Governor has the right to veto legislation — period.

This is The Travis County that went after Thomas DeLay. That conviction was overturned and he was talking about suing them. Seems like they pick some winners as DA there.

Dems always seem to play hardball and the GOPe wants to go out for drinks. For Rats, it is war, for pubbies, it is a gentleman's game where reaching across the aisle (or reach arounds) is more prized than victory.

I can only speak for myself, but I’ve always felt being drunk was doing a disservice to alcohol. You can have a few drinks and enjoy the taste or the feeling, but once you cross that line you may as well just be pouring it down the toilet without consuming it. In addition to wasting it, many just make a fool of themselves. Now a mean drunk, which it appears this fool DA is, just ticks me off. I would use her video and mug shot over and over if I was her opposition. Few people can stomach a mean, elitist drunk

I agree with Gov. Perry’s veto - I also believe he would be a good POTUS if only he could handle debates better. But for economics, defense, having a strong conservative core - he would stand tall in the saddle.
