Do they really think a shop owner or landlord changing the lock out is going to remember to run a key down to the local fire department?

Of those 800 or so keys they say they lost I would guess more than a few would not have worked in the locks anyhow. It is not just the fire department that is not keeping up with the system.

These lock boxes they require are such a waste.

If there is something going on that they have to get inside they are going to break the window and not wait to access the key box and then the door.

“Chief, I know there is a fire inside but just hold on, don’t break that window. I’m opening the lock box now.”
