I know when I say “two have” that doesn’t sound like much. But what they are discussing amongst themselves is the real fear of retaliation that will affect their families from the FED. They are not wealthy people that could fight a 20 year court battle. But if things escalate all bets are off. What they lack in wealth they make up for in other areas, and only as an absolute last resort.
You talk about private property—138 cattle are already missing or presumed dead, many calves without mothers, if you run the family into bankruptcy the land is up for sale. Who do you think will buy it?
All “legal”.
And the fed doesn’t care much about private property these days.
I suspect the land has already been paid for by some kind of Federal promissory note to pay off the money debt held by China.
That will be part of the settlement or court decision that comes out of this. Killing cattle on the open range is a time honored BLM tradition. The taxpayer usually pays. Invading a mans domicile and harming humans is a different critter.
