“So?”

The nihilist mantra.

So? Who cares if society has been and continues to be destroyed by drug use?

So what?

The legal drugs kids and young adults are being put on are doing way more harm than pot. Research these mass shootings, every one was a person who has or is currently on that stuff.

Who cares if society has been and continues to be destroyed by drug use?..The drug user, himself? It’s called “culling the useless”. Look back in history. Your argument is the EXACT same that led us to Prohibition. How’d that work out? And I WAS a drug cop for eight years until I realized it was shoveling shit against the tide and making the government rich.

Drug use hasn’t done society any favors, but the collateral damage from the drug war has been far broader and deeper. There IS no reason good enough to allow government to think our civil rights are of no consequence, especially when half the people who suffer are innocent, even if this one was not. If they can’t fight the drug war within the constraints of the Constitution, then they need to figure out another way, turn the fight over to someone smarter, or declare defeat. The Founding Fathers I’m sure foresaw that problems would need attending to, the BOR STILL applies even when trying to solve real, legitimate problems.
