I’ve lived in Hawaii for over half my life, and have many Filipino friends. One family I am close with all work as maids and dishwashers in the hotels here.

They are simple, decent, and incredibly hard working American citizens who do not like paying taxes and generally support the republican party. I’ve never met finer people than the Filipinos.

However, I have gone to some of their Filipino churches and invariably the minister tells the congregation how to vote, and it is usually for the current power structure which in Hawaii is almost always democrats except for the Lingle years.

Also about 70% of the DOE department of education is Japanese/Chinese, and that vote is solid democrat; again because that is the power structure here if you want a job or promotion. Hard to break away from the plantation.

It’s too bad that the Filipino’s church leads them to vote for an anti-God political party and anti-life, pro-gay marriage, political platform.
