We trained our two dogs (min schnauzer and maltese) when they were puppies to like their cages. We always throw some kibble and bits or what nots in the cage to get them in. But they both sleep in them at night time, and they like it.

thanks AB. Never used a cage before but it’s either she uses it or doesn’t live here.

I can handle it. My other dog stayed outside when I went out but Jackie got out of the yard so still working on that.

Seriously get another dog. Two are no more trouble than one and they keep each other company.

I saw your post about your dog and had to post. We rescued a beagle and he destroyed three crates and ATE through the drywall to escape out of a closed bedroom. Also, tore up carpet to try and get through another bedroom door. Separation anxiety to the max. We read and read and read and this is what worked. When leaving, don’t make a big deal out of it, just leave. We give our dog a kong (rubber thinggy that you fill with peanut butter and/or treats) and simply leave just saying something simple like “take care of the house”. In the beginning I even took my coat, purse, keys out to the garage and came back in a few times before leaving for real as those we all cues to him that I was leaving. Also, when you get back home and he/she is all excited, ignore them. I know, I know, it is hard and it seems brutal but it WORKS! Just act like it is no big deal and then after a few moments you can say hello, pet them, etc. Also, when we began this, we gave our dog the run of the house. Once we didn’t lock him up or try to contain him he has destroyed NOTHING! EVER! It has been 4 mos. Again, I know, I know, it is scary but after little more than a week, we’ve had a perfect dog with no more anxiety! Now he greets us at the door but he doesn’t jump all over us or get excited when we leave. He knows we are coming back and he is content! Good luck!!!!!

Well some of your travails and vicissitudes are exactly why I do not own a dog anymore. Only one cat is good also.

Also sorry to disappoint Rocklobster that we could not break the century mark.

Too much celebration of Palm Sunday and The Masters and the Nevada Bundy Militia victory + the perfect weather.

Thanks so much for taking the time. and everyone else.

I have lots of options here and have not tried them all.

It is separation anxiety. She’s such a great dog but very needy. Luckily, seriously quite luckily, my daughter and family lives across the street and THEY take care of her most of the time. Today was the first time I left her to go to church and right home.

She went a little nuts but it was way less worse than it looked. The venetian blinds....Lord I didn’t even think of them. I have had dogs all my life and cats. I have some experience.

For now I think I am going to forego the crate. This dog is so sensitive that I’d have to do is one time take a sharp tone, at least for the time being....only had her almost 3 weeks now...and she’d be terrified every time I opened the door. Like she is with the porch now as I thought a sharp tone was the solution to get her in....but it wasn’t.

Yet everything about her seems to be that she’ll do fine. I have to learn patience and God evidently thinks I should learn patience. I don’t know this dog’s history but a little. She’s very good on a leash....I don’t think she’s ever had a yard. She does LIKE the yard, of course, but she’s scared of it.

Patience....an angel whispers in my ear to have patience....I had son-in-law put venetian blinds from extra bedroom and beloved husband’s bedroom. I’ll buy those roll things for those windows. Son-in-law also put mirror back on my bedroom door. It was but a couple of screws holding it in.

Jackie just wanted to get out, by door or window....however she could do it.

she did NOT succeed.

Jackie is four years old, not a puppy, and she’s very well-behaved. She just don’t want to be left alone. And another dog is VERY much possible. Still thinking about it but for now will spend time with Jackie that she trust me and decide what to do.

“Patience,” the angel whispers.

On the bright side, at least she knows what the bathroom is for.

Maybe just a little more training to get it right.

I think so.

Daughter takes the dog and on choir practice night grandkid comes over to dog sit.

I have the luxury of time and I think it’s going to take time.

“Patience” whispers the angel.

This pastor is a no-nonsense, no compromise 'fire and brimstone' preacher and teacher...makes me wonder what made CBS decide to film in his church.

UPDATE: I am watching the Lord's Supper service from the church that CBS was filming this morning...it turns out that someone at CBS had seen Pastor Lawson's 2008 sermon on 'Hellfire', which is posted at YouTube. (I got my hands on a CD of this sermon which I would play for the neighbors and passersby while working outside on my garden. I listen to it whenever I feel I am wandering from the 'straight path'.) CBS filmed the morning services (both Sunday School and then interviewed the pastor for an hour following services. At the conclusion of the interview, she told him "nearly six million people will be watching this on our network...if you had one message that you wanted to pass on to them, what would it be?" He told her that no matter what your religion; the only way to Heaven was belief and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (paraphrase); that He is the ONLY way.

What an amazing opportunity Yahweh has given this pastor; the chance to reach six million people with the Gospel message...all because someone at CBS 'stumbled' across his sermon on 'Hellfire' posted on YouTube. He works in mysterious ways, indeed. (Interesting to note he didn't want ANYTHING to do with CBS when he was told they wanted to speak with him...he knows all about the media, and does not trust them. We will see what remains of his message after the cutting room is finished with it.)

I follow Caesar the Dog Whisperer. I believe his method is best. Be firm with the dog—loving, but firm, not mean. “Go in the cage” should never be an option to the dog. The dog will know that by your non-verbals. Something tells me, Pat, that you have, what we call in the military, a great command presence!

If you find out when this is going to be aired, please let us know.

Don’t like watching CBS but would for this.

Thanks in advance.

There was no evening news tonight (golf), and nothing on 60 Minutes. She said the piece would air to six million viewers...that sounds like their evening news viewership, though it could be their morning show. I would assume, due to the subject matter; that it would air sometime this week. I’ll drop the church an e-mail tomorrow to see if they know.
