Feds: Safety concerns led to Nevada cow release

Federal land managers say "escalating tensions" led them to release all 400 or so head of cattle rounded up on public land in southern Nevada from a rancher who has refused to recognize their authority.

"Based on information about conditions on the ground and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concerns about the safety of employees and members of the public," Kornze said in a statement.

Hundreds of states' rights protesters, including militia members, showed up at corrals outside Mesquite to demand the animals' return to rancher Cliven Bundy. Some protesters were armed with handguns and rifles at the corrals and at an earlier nearby rally.

Las Vegas Police Lt. Dan Zehnder said the showdown was resolved with no injuries and no violence. Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie was able to negotiate a resolution after talking with Bundy, he said.

At the end of the day ,the matter will return to the courts , and the FED using unlimited tax monies will eventually overwhelm Bundy as has already happened to his neighbors.

Issues like this should be resolved in the courts, and in the legislature, and at the ballot box. At this point Bundy and the other ranchers should work together with other citizens and voters to resolve the issue fairly. Ousting some of their less helpful elected officials in November would be a good start.

This should be a slam dunk. The subcommittee on public lands is chaired by Rob Bishop of UT. The only thing better would have been a rep from NV

The Chinese have already pretty much stopped buying US treasuries. They are trying to dump the bonds they have.

Most of the deficit is financed by digital money printed/created by the Federal Reserve to monetize debt bought by their member banks from the Treasury department. And those member banks are told they must buy treasuries if they want the negative rate financing.

China is not so much needed anymore to finance the US government.

But the idea of boycotting China would lead to hyperinflation in many consumer goods. Walmart especially would cringe in pain.

US Military Spec Ops. Very SOP of their mannerisms and speech patterns.

That was my opinion immediately when I saw him. The guy is no federal donut-muncher like a lot of the others obviously were but is a serious player. The "POLICE" sign was for show.

Or perhaps they feared what might happen when a few hundred Oath Keepers were onsite.

That was my thinking. Too many of them for them to kill and lie about it and be believed. Too many of them for the protesters to be all crazy right wing extremists. Too many of them for the BLM thugs to get away with much more and not be exposed later by credible witnesses.

Thank you Matt Shea from Washington state!!

Is that a local station for Nevada?

Flashback:

January 17, 2001 - 11:23 a.m. ET

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0101/17/se.09.html

SEN. EDWARD KENNEDY (D), MASSACHUSETTS: And, Senator, he used those words that I quoted yesterday. Senator Ashcroft used those words, besides calling James Brady, who was shot in the assassination attempt of President Reagan, a loyal Republican, distinguished citizen whose life has been battling those wounds, and you call him the leading enemy of responsible gun owners.

And then you went on, and I said that Senator Ashcroft is so far out of the mainstream, he has said citizens need to be armed in order to protect themselves against the tyrannical government in our government. Our government tyrannical? If the senator from Arizona doesn’t know the difference between the British insurrection at the American Revolution and this government that has been formed under James Madison and the Constitution — there is a significant one.

Now listen to this. Listen to what he said is — indeed — and this is quote. This is Senator Ashcroft. “Indeed, the Second Amendment, like the First, an important individual liberty that in turn promotes good government. A citizenry armed with the right both to possess firearms and to speak freely is less likely to fall victim to a tyrannical central government than a citizenry that is disarmed from criticizing government or defending themselves.”

Listen just to what Gary Wills, a Pulitzer Prize winner, wrote about that. Gary Wills, a Pulitzer Prize winner, has written, “Listen, only a madman, one would think, can suppose that militias have a constitutional right to levy war against the United States, which is treason by constitutional definition under this.”

I think this nominee owes an apology to the people of the United States for that insinuation, talking about our government now being the source of a tyrannical oppression. That’s what I think, Senator. I don’t retreat. I don’t retreat on any one of those matters.

Too bad Kennedy didn’t live to eat those words... :)

Necessary to the security of a free state...

Liberals are of the conviction that “state”
should be capitalized as “State” meaning a
gerographic intity. Whereas “state” refers
to a condition, that of being free.
Thus the militia has nothing do do with States
at all other than to guarrantee that condition we
term freedom.

An amendment that strikes fear in the heart of every
statist.
