In Alaska, an astounding 69 percent of the land is held by the federal government, second only to Nevada at 85 percent.

...The feds control 49 percent of California.

Turtle, schmurtle!!! Anyone know anything about a friend of Harry Reed wanting to build something on land part of or adjacent to the cattle grazing lands in dispute?

Aside from military bases and office complexes, the federal government has no business owning vast swaths of land; it certainly has no business owning half and two/thirds of whole states.

BLM should be at minimum divided up along with the lands they administer and handed off to the states for them to do with as they wish.

For me, the better answer, though, is to sell the land to US citizens by lottery, with current leaseholders getting first option to buy the lands they currently lease.

But however it gets done, BLM needs to become a state-run enterprise if it isn’t shut down entirely.

EPA is another matter.

There is no bill of rights to protect you from the regulator. Really, the regulators were empowered by the other three branches precisely so they could get around the constitutional limits that theoretically bind the other three branches of government.

Less than 2% in Texas and even that the Feds bought or it was donated.

Examples are Big Bend was donated. Ft Hood was bought.

Texas joined the union and held onto all it’s land in 1845 not giving the Feds an acre.

The whole story about Reid and his sons and the Chinese reminds me of something that happened a decade ago. Reid was able to get federal lands around Vegas de-federalized so that developers could develop it.

The trick to getting it done was this: the municipalities hired his sons as lobbyists. And the developers separately hired his sons as lobbyists. Each player cut a check for $250k to $300k to their lobbyists. And Reid came through and the lands were sold by the feds to the municipalities and the developers.

Note that I do not suggest that anything illegal happened here. Reid is a lawmaker and his sons are lawyers so I am sure they did everything strictly by the law.

My comment is to note that, if you want to talk to Harry Reid, the trick is a check made out to his sons. The second thing to note is that just as he can seize land on behalf of the feds, he can do the reverse and arrange for federal land to be handed off to private parties. You just have to call his sons. I imagine they are in the phone book.

Nice try Joe Miller, nice try.

Now tell us what, when, where, why and how?

Do you have enough “fire-in-the-belly” to do both of the following:
* Make your maiden speech as US Senator on the merits of Impeaching B. Hussein Obama?
* Make your maiden Senate Bill proposal to hold Senator Reid, AG Holder and B. Hussein accountable for Obstruction of Justice for the Congressional coverups of the scandals of Benghazi, IRS, NSA, Fast and Furious, Obamacare, and other scandal coverups that rise to your level of concern?

Many run for Office for the good of themselves, but few actually do anything for the good of America.

If you want our donation money, then convince us that you are not just another cave-in politician who is a doormat Republican to Democrats.

I worked in the control tower at Laughlin AFB, (Del Rio) Tx. From the tower, we could see the mountains of Big Bend and it appeared to be a sleeping lady, which is exactly what we called it.

Yup.

Story goes that we were the ONLY State that was invited into the Union.

Hence, the minuscule amount of Federal land now available for seizure by the Bureau of Feudal Land Management for the Commune-organized Obamanation.

“.....the Republican Establishment is similarly unwilling to confront the problem.”

Ain’t that the truth! Every republican in Washington should be screaming about the corruption. And they should name names.

Does that mean you’re with Joe or against him. I’m not clear on what the expression (down with) means.

“The whole story about Reid and his sons and the Chinese reminds me of something that happened a decade ago......”

That’s a good summary but you left out the part about all the sons (sons-in-law) being lobbyists for Indian reservations. Hairy is gaming everybody available to game.

Exactly right! Nothing happens in Nevada unless dingy Harry Reid wants it to happen.

And they’re doing a bang-up job with Fort Hood! Steyn has an excellent article in another thread above on the feds and their administration of this post.
If Ft. Hood remains a ‘gun-free zone’ after this second horrific shooting, Texas may have to step in and take matters in hand. ‘Don’t mess with Texas.’

Little emperors.

How did it happen that Nevada did not own all this land, except for the little dedicated to Indian reservations?

At any rate maybe it all ought to be sold to private parties by fair auction. The emperors are bankrupt of money. What good is the land doing them?
