The Justice Department says a 29-foot war memorial cross on a San Diego mountain is not an unconstitutional promotion of Christianity and should remain on federal property.
The Obama administration said an appeals court ruling declaring the cross on Mount Soledad a violation of the constitutional separation of church and state undermined an act of Congress and conflicted with recent Supreme Court decisions.

Two steps forward, one step back. SOP for this administration.
That was my thought. They don’t really favor keeping the cross. But from a pork-swilling, corrupt-government point of view, it’s a relatively inconsequential matter. It doesn’t cost anyone any kickbacks or pork. So, why not give a bit here, and push forward on the really corrupt stuff?

This administration is very very liberal. The liberal view is that ANY symbol of religion violates the so called separation of church and state. I’m shocked that the DOJ would take this position.
It’s only a delaying action.
The Regime just doesn’t want more bad press at the
present time. Too many scandals going on at one
time.

If the memorial Cross falls, all the paintings, sculptures and other art pieces created by New and Old Masters in the National Gallery of Art and other government-funded galleries and museums must have all depictions of a cross, any cross, removed by any means immediately.
Also removed from any art on national property shall be all 6-pointed stars, peaceful landscapes with garden buddhas, any skyscapes with a star near a crescent moon, and/or paintings or sculptures of swine or other religiously-proscribed hoofed beasts of the field.
On the Left's menu for the future will certainly be "In God We Trust" on our paper and coinage currency.....but that task is too involved and expensive to tackle right now.
Maybe the government will some day substitute wampum beads made of clam shells for money, just like the old days....just so it don't have to have our national motto imprinted on it.

Midterm elections only 7 months away. That governs everything for the next 7 months.
There’s nothing more frightening than when anyone in this administration sounds reasonable.
Your guess is as good as any other.
At least for now, it stays.
The inscription on the DOJ building will have to go, too: “Justice is founded in the rights bestowed by nature upon man. Liberty is maintained in security of justice.”
“Bestowed by Nature” is just too darn close to “Bestowed by God” to be comfortable. Has to go.
Maybe they can enlist the Taliban to destroy the façade of the building.
