Bundy made a critical error in not signing the 1993 lease and paying the fees because it converted him from a stakeholder to a trespasser.

It’s probably true that the BLM intended to manage him into non-existence, but giving up his legal interest in the allotment is not the smartest way to fight city hall.

The temporary victory of this weekend may turn out to be Pyrrhic in the long run.

I hope the shenanigans of the fedcoats will explain how 50+ other ranchers were chased off the land.

I agree with all of this. It is going to turn into a Pyrrhic victory, and if what I'm reading in Bundy's interviews is right, I think it's going to get worse. He appears to not recognize the federal government at all and sources indicate he started all this after visits from tax protester people in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

That makes me question: has he paid his federal income taxes? Because if not, I'm betting an audit will be coming along and probably significant charges of tax evasion. That's usually what happens in cases where someone goes real public with the sovereign citizen views. Look at the case of the Brown family. Very instructive.
