Obama: Right to vote under threat in the US

NEW YORK (AP) — In an unsparing critique of Republicans, President Barack Obama on Friday accused the GOP of using voting restrictions to keep voters from the polls and of jeopardizing 50 years of expanded ballot box access for millions of black Americans and other minorities.

"The stark, simple truth is this: The right to vote is threatened today in a way that it has not been since the Voting Rights Act became law nearly five decades ago," Obama said in a fiery speech at civil rights activist and television talk host Al Sharpton's National Action Network conference.

Obama waded into the acrid debate over voting access in an election year where control of the Senate, now in the hands of Democrats, is at stake, as is Obama's already limited ability to push his agenda through Congress.

Republicans say the voting measures guard against voter fraud, but Democrats say they erode the landmark 1965 law that helped pave Obama's path in politics.

"Across the country, Republicans have led efforts to pass laws making it harder, not easier, for people to vote," he said, relating anecdotes of voters turned away because they didn't have the right identification or because they needed a passport or birth certificate to register.

Obama is the biggest liar to ever live in the WH. I refuse to call him "president". Every day I think that I can't possibly hate him any more than I already do, and every day he proves me wrong.

He makes me physically sick and I am sure he makes my blood pressure go up. And the idiot republicans sit back and let him talk instead of showing by facts what a lying POS he is.

How much longer, Lord???

Does the charlatan’s base have to have ID to get their welfare checks, disability checks, rent subsidies, ObamaCare, free breakfast and lunches at school, etc. etc?

They have NO problem getting IDs to sign up for all the freebies, so obviously, they can all produce an ID to vote. It certainly won’t make it more difficult for the dead to vote Democrat, because they have eternal life at the polling place.

Our right to vote is negated by the rampant vote fraud that has been going on unabated for decades.

Common sense tells us that a right so fundamental to our liberty should be protected with at least the same amount of diligence used to protect credit cards from fraud. Only Democrats are so brazen about enabling vote fraud, with a bogus rationale that even a 5 year old can see through.

The "right" to vote MORE THAN ONCE is under threat. As it should be. But not enough.

If Republicans were conducting any measurable voting fraud, the tone from DOJ would be very different.

"Obama: Right to vote under threat in the US"

Hmmmm... think there's something missing...

Try this: Obama: Right to vote ILLEGALLY AND MULTIPLE TIMES under threat in the US"

That's better.

Obama: Right to vote as many times as you want under threat in the US

There fixed it.

Obama is so full of it.

These race-based appeals are falling flat.

America isn’t about voting restrictions anymore.

However we have the opposite. Now there is a sort of racial preference which is being played, which America badly needs to address.

Badly.

He got like 99% of the black vote.

But that may be gone on the next Dem candidate (exc epting Hillary).

That's how I know she's not running and that the party has someone in the wings...just like Obama appeared out of nowhere.

And they are right. They say “elections have consequences”. Well, they really have consequences if you can get enough dead people to vote.

Once the "voter fraud" meme has been advertised ad naseum unto acceptance by the people, cancelling the elections until such time as "adequate safeguards" can be instated will be a piece of cake.

Until then all seats and offices will remain in the current hands.

Check and mate.

There is no constitutional “right to vote,” and Congress declaring there to be one does not create one.

And to think, some Republicans actually can be in the room without spitting in his face.

Democrats call Republicans evil and Republicans respond by politely disagreeing.

There is no “right to vote”....It is NOT in the Constitution or Bill of Rights...

Voting is a privilege of the American citizens who maintain good citizenship and do not commit felonious acts.
