Every domestic animal I’ve seen (from afar) lately has yellow ear tags.
My folks got tired of de-horning. They used what looked like an exercise lat pull-down bar. You slip it over the horn, twist and tighten the grips, like a copper tubing cutter. The animal’s in a chute with its head between bars. Not much fun for either party, lots of blood, and he switched to ‘polled’ (no horns) cattle.
I’ve noticed, in west OK at least, a lot of beef raisers have switched from Hereford to Angus. A little hardier maybe.
It’s not an easy life and I’m sure they could do w/o the “We’re from the government, and we’re here to help.” The only calluses these feds have is prolly on their trigger fingers.
They should go back to wherever they came from.
