Cliven Bundy Ranch Dispute: Huge Difference Between Coverage by Conservative and Liberal Me
The Epoch Times ^ | 04/11/2014 | Zachary Stieber

The Cliven Bundy ranch dispute has gained a lot of attention but is getting hugely different coverage from conservative and liberal media outlets.

Bundy is involved in a dispute with federal authorities over cattle grazing northeast of Las Vegas in Nevada.

He says that he has the right to graze his cattle on open range, which currently includes a portion of desert that houses the endangered desert tortoise. His right comes from his Mormon family settling and ranching in the area since the 19th century, he says.

Federal authorities say that cows are trespassing on the arid and fragile habitat and note that Bundy lost federal court cases challenging the roundup and that he was ordered by a federal judge last October not to interfere in any roundup.

Bundy, who represented himself in the court cases, has vowed to do whatever it takes to protect his property. He has characterized the dispute as a “range war.”

Conservative outlets such as Fox News, the Blaze, and InfoWars are highlighting Bundy’s argument and claiming that the government is overreaching with armed federal agents and use of force in the case.

“Nevada Rancher Threatens ‘Range War’ Against Government,” reads one Fox headline. “Cliven Bundy Calls on Sheriff to Start Arresting BLM Feds” reads another article, from InfoWars.

Liberal outlets, meanwhile, are painting Bundy as a lawbreaker who deserves what he’s getting and playing down any use of force.

“The federal government moved some cows and Nevada’s governor isn’t happy about it,” read one headline from the Washington Post. “Cliven Bundy: right-wing extremist domestic terrorist lawbreaker,” reads another article, from Daily Kos.

See an update from The Associated Press that seems to illustrate both sides below.

It's not about a danged tortoise.

The BLM is killing hundreds of desert tortoises.

Desert tortoise faces threat from its own refuge August 25, 2013

Back at the conservation center, a large refrigerator labeled "carcass freezer" hummed in the desert sun as scientists examined the facility's 1,400 inhabitants to find those hearty enough to release into the wild. Officials expect to euthanize more than half the animals in the coming months in preparation for closure at the end of 2014.

More glaring proof that the FedMob is incapable of managing lands or wildlife.

Are the employees of the MSM covering up for Reid, et al?

Nevadan Named BLM Chief - Senate Confirms Former Reid Adviser

There are plans for another massive "solar" farm debacle and guess what..

seems that "Bundy’s cattle 'impacts' solar development, more specifically the construction of 'utility-scale solar power generation facilities' on 'public lands.'"

Appears that Reid and family benefit by taking the land away from the Bundys. IIRC LBJ stole a major radio & TV station in Austin using his influence over regulatory agencies when he was Majority Leader.

Why doesn't the Bundy Ranch just post a huge billboard saying 'WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?'

Hussein would yank Holder/ATF so fast.

Or post a huge sign:

"CT SSN# 042-68-4425 STOLEN"

IMO, if the Sheriff of his county has a valid warrant, then he should arrest Mr. Bundy and let the attorneys fight it out in court. In the meantime, all these BLM rent-a-cop’s need to get their rear ends out of the state and leave the cows, calves and other members of the family alone.

This entire action stinks of Harry Reid and tyrannical actions by the Federal government.

Prayers up for Mr. Bundy, his family and all those brave warriors who are going to stand with them. May God watch over them and keep them safe.

This is about something way more sinister than a bunch of desert animals.

I think this Free Range issue reached a near flash point because Rory Reid's client needs to get title to the property in order to get the solar panel farm built in time for the ruling party to crow about it at the Democrat Convention in 2016. Cliven Bundy is expendable and without the publicity and the presence of the media cameras and the protesters would have been dead by now and the BLM SWAT units could have gone home. I am also sure that he will meet with an unfortunate accident sometime in the near future along with a couple of his sons.

I sure wish the BLM would expend a little of that manpower (and dog power) to clean the drug smugglers out of the Vekel and the Sawtooth Mountains here.

If you think the Feds won’t stop at anything to kick you off of land they want, just look into what happened to the five Indian tribes who now inhabit Eastern Oklahoma.

It seems that the debate boils down to this:

Should a rancher be allowed to do what he wants to do on land that he doesn’t own, or

Should powerful friends and relatives of the Senate Majority Leader be allowed to do what they want on land that they don’t own.

Sounds like the rancher has got to go. Tough luck for the Desert Tortise and all of the soon to be dead birds as well.

“The federal government moved some cows and Nevada’s governor isn’t happy about it,” read one headline from the Washington Post.

It wasn't that long ago that cattle rustling was a serious crime that carried an entirely appropriate penalty. But today, when the Cattle-Rustler-in-Chief orders some cows "moved" so his cronies can make a profit, it's no big deal. Some people are so in the tank for the far left that they don't even pretend to care about reality and the rule of law.

“Cliven Bundy: right-wing extremist domestic terrorist lawbreaker,” reads another article, from Daily Kos.

To progressives, a productive rancher is a "terrorist" even when he refuses to pay a fee that no one should have to pay and hasn't attacked anyone, but Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is dreamy and worthy of a Rolling Stone cover. The far left fringe disgusts me.

Well there is a problem with your summation.

The feds don't own the land and have No Right to be chasing anyone away from it. (the land)

He and his family, for generations have been allowed and paid taxes to use the land by the State.

Since it is land .. owned by the State of Nevada, it would fall under the Sheriff's jurisdiction to settle the matter .. Who seems to be missing!?
