I’m sure they can take care of themselves. But what business does someone have trying to badger them into signing up for that kind of commitment when government and society have tilted the risk/reward ratio for having children into the negative?

My dogs are the best alarm protection I can have.
NO ONE gets within a 1/4 mile of my property without one of them telling me so.
Encourage away. They probably give you a polite reponse while they are thinking to themselves that some people should mind their own business.
I get it. Kids are great and all that. I raised one. Been there done that. If she asks me for advice on the subject I would advise against having kids. If I had a son I would offer to pay for the vasectomy if he wanted one. It was hard enough when mine was born. But now...? No way in hell would I take a conscious decision to have kids. Not in the current environment.

Wait until you say, "It's just a dog." when they try to justify 4-5 figure veterinary treatments for their "kids". That is fun to watch.
Just another reason I advise high schoolers to go into veterinary medicine instead of med school.

My wife and I sure did. It instilled a 'don't let this happen to YOUR family' attitude within us, so we give OUR children that which we never had. Hell, I lost count of how many times my mother has been married now. I think she's always on the lookout for a future ex-husband. I have nothing to do with her. She's a loser - Another thing I learned is that it's never good to closely associate with losers, unless you want to lose along with them(I don't care if I happen to be related to them). Nothing good ever comes out of hanging around bad people. We try to instill those concepts within our children as well - I don't care if it results in them being snobbish assholes or without any "friends". I think they'll be better for it in the long run.

Because they want to make orphaned children part of their family instead of creating more. And most of these children are black. Very very noble IMO. Unfortunately the racists will make this far more difficult for the parents and kids than it has to be.
The figure can be kept with a personal trainer/dietician or surrogate mother so I don’t think that is the reason.
