He speaks of his plan vanishing. How and why did it vanish. A number of people have lost their health care because of actions by their insurance companies. What are the facts here. Blaming Obamacare is a soft target, but plenty of people were loosing their care every year because of company decisions. Of course, it was stupid of Obama to promise things he might have no control over. Personally, I still have the same health care I have had for a number of years, Kaiser Permanente. No one has asked me to change anything.

” Personally, I still have the same health care I have had for a number of years, Kaiser Permanente. No one has asked me to change anything.”

Well, as a retired person, I had my Medicare Advantage Plan summarily cancelled because it was “substandard.” In a perverse way Obamacare “helped me” because with the cancellation letter I became eligible to purchase any available Medicare Supplement (or another MA Plan for that matter). Ordinarily, as you age, with Medicare, you cannot improve your insurance plan absent a cancellation of your current insurance plan. FYI, Medicare considers Kaiser to be their “highest rated” MA Plan (the only one they rate as Five Star). Now, I have no personal knowledge of Kaiser, but over the years it has has the reputation of being as close to “socialized medicine” as we have had in this country up to now. Kaiser is a very different animal as opposed to all other healthcare systems. In it, your “choices” are quite limited, just like what’s happening now with the rest of the HC system thanks to Obamacare. So while lots of people like or even love Kaiser, it is the model for Obamacare. You have no choice of who you see, it has to be a Kaiser doctor and it must be in a Kaiser facility. I guess all you have to hope is that they caliber of their people is as good as those available to the rest of us in the open market. Medicare Advantage for me was a lot the same. Everything had to go through a Primary Care Physician, and you had to have “approval” to see anyone other than the PCP. Now, I go to whomever I want, no copays and no referrals.

Yep, they just changed it on their own.

All across the country insurance companies have changed the policies they offer because they were forced to under Obamacare. And the net effect of those changes for millions of people is that they lost their previous insurance, and now they have to pay more for less coverage, and in many cases no coverage at all.

In our state, and many others, the new insurance policies cost more but don't provide any out of network coverage. So, for example, if you need to see a specialist, or get health care out of state you are out of luck. Or more specifically, "uninsured".
