Millions of Americans who didn't have health insurance last year now do, as a result of the Affordable Care Act. In Lane County, Oregon, Trillium Community Health Plan is struggling to deal with a huge influx of new patients. CEO Terry Coplin says they expected 26,000 people to sign up in the first few years. Instead, about that many signed up in the first few months.
"We weren't expecting to get such a large assignment of patients in the first two months," says Coplin. "These patients who are coming onto the program, many have not seen a physician for years. We're dealing with not just a large number of patients, but also what appears to be a much sicker population of patients."

There was a story a month or so ago about a county in Oregon signing up their entire prisoner population onto Obamacare.
No monthly premiums $2 doctor office visit copays and $4 generic prescription drugs. You never see a bill.
No wonder Medicaid is so attractive.
Medicaid was primarily for the indigent old and children before expansion.
Have costs gone up? A few years back, I went to the drug store for an elderly lady from church, she had 7 scripts to pick up, (Medicaid), she gave me a $5 bill for the co pays. I just thought, well, I'll pay the rest.
She got change back from the $5.
Medicaid is the federal-state single payer health care program for low income people. Its been expanded under Obamacare to allow people to enroll up to 125% of the federal poverty level guideline. Its often confused with Medicare, the federal health care program for the senior population.
Generic prescriptions can be filled at Walmart Pharmacy. Nowadays, there is no need to bring in a paper RX from the doctor. A doctor sends the prescription electronically to the pharmacy, so drugs are ready to be picked up by the patient upon arrival.

I know all that, I get drugs from W-M for myself. My reply addressed the point that my elderly (disabled) friend paid less than $5 total co pay, under Medicaid, for 7 perscriptions. I said nothing about “paper RXs”.
