LAS VEGAS -- The son of a rural Nevada cattle rancher has been freed from federal custody, a day after his arrest by agents working to remove cattle from disputed grazing areas northeast of Las Vegas.

A U.S. attorney's office spokeswoman in Las Vegas said Monday that 37-year-old Dave Bundy is accused of refusing to disperse and resisting officers.Bundy's mother, Carol Bundy, says U.S. Bureau of Land Management agents arrested her son Sunday in a parked car on State Route 170 near Bunkerville.

Pictures obtained by the 8 News NOW I-Team show where David Bundy had parked his car to take pictures of the cattle eviction.

Bundy says he was only exercising his First Amendment rights when federal officers told him to leave  the area and when he didn't, they grabbed him."Two officers surround me, third one in front of me. They jumped me and took me to the ground. You can see they scraped up my face," Bundy said.Bundy's father, Cliven Bundy, says his cattle are entitled to graze in the Gold Butte area."They steal my cattle, and that is bad enough. But they make my son a political prisoner," Cliven Bundy said.

This weekend wranglers, hired by the federal government, started  removing cattle owned by Bundy from a stretch of land near the Virgin River Gorge.

“Bundy had more land until the BLM took it away from him....”

He had nothing, he was leasing and stopped paying the lease years before they shut it down.

“It’s high time for the BLM to do its job and give the [endangered desert] tortoises and the Gold Butte area the protection they need and are legally entitled to,” senior Center for Biological Diversity scientist Rob Mrowka told the Mesquite Local News. “As the tortoises emerge from their winter sleep, they are finding their much-needed food consumed by cattle.”

-an article I just read said they are going to spend $3,000,000 to evict Bundy and take his livestock. ..

How large are the grazing fees?

Who owns the land where they pay $10.00? The federal rate is $1.35/head/month.

http://www.fs.fed.us/news/2013/releases/01/grazing.shtml

The official rate was $1.35 last year, and can’t go up more than 25% over the previous year. This year, though, it stayed the same - it is $1.35/head/month again in 2014.

You bring up a good point. Sadly this bodes poorly for our nation’s future.

Can he show prior ownership? Can he prove that the feds violated the takings clause of the Constitution?

If they did take his land without just compensation to support the war effort (WWII) he maybe SOL. If that is the case I think he should make his case to Dingy Harry saying that the feds should make him whole, as they did the Japanese families removed from their homes and businesses.

Well shoot... I guess you’ve got me. It’s just peachy that the Feds are using the BLM to prevent use of more and more land. Pretty soon, we’ll be eating vat grown tofu and living in high-rise cubicles.

You’ve won me over. Congrats...

There was no lease charge, then there was, then the BLM started increasing the “off limits” land, and now we have this.

And people like you supporting the Feds in this...

Nice.

";It is one of the ways that the federal government allows use of the land for the public good. The money collected goes to offset the cost of maintaining the land (such as wild fire suppression costs).”

-don’t forget euthanasia services for the desert tortoise.

Government plans to euthanize hundreds of desert tortoises after budget cuts to refuge.

Thanks for reminding me about that. What a waste of endangered animals.

They’re killing off what’s left of the California Condors too. Obastard just EO’ed an exemption to the Endangered Species Act for the power companies using wind farms, so they can continue slaughtering the rare birds. If you wonder who wins the collision between “animal rights” wackos and environmental “globull warming” wackos, the winners are the globull warming wackos.

Only reason shithead holder mouthed off at Louie was he was confident Louie was professional enough not to jump over the desk and kick his ass.

The feds won’t be pulling any raid like in NV here, especially against Gohmert.

The lease payments the family made, when they were making them, were subsidized.

“In other words, stealing from taxpayers. I have no sympathy for this guy.”

I can tell you who is stealing your money. They have SWAT teams and armed helicopters, and this eviction is going to cost an estimated three million dollars. He's the last rancher in the valley. And the truth is, they're doing it to *save the desert tortoise*. That's who is stealing your money.

This raid was likely on reid’s behalf so he could open up more “investment property” near Vegas.

“refusing to disperse”??? How does that jive with “peaceable assembly”? When did BHO revoke the First Amendment?

No. The Bundy family never owned this land, and the federal government never took this land away from the Bundy family.

Bundy does not recognize federal ownership of land. Bundy believes that all federal land in Clark County, Nevada belongs to the people of Clark County, Nevada, and not the federal government.
