New building shows what legislators truly value: Themselves
Pioneer Press ^ | 4-9-14 | Joe Soucheray

DFLers, who generally frown on grandeur as part of their ideology, are going to build themselves a marvelous new office building. They have been deaf to the idea that it is wasteful and that there are countless ways to accommodate the few of them who are going to be displaced by renovation work on the Capitol.

To save a few bucks -- cutting it from $94 million to $77 million -- they claim they are going to eliminate an adjoining parking ramp. But that was to have been principally for the public anyway, and the public has been ignored in all other aspects of this project, so they might as well not have a place to park in the event they are going to go beseeching, hat in hand.

What might alarm even the least invested among us is the parallel life our legislators lead. When they go through that door at work, something happens to them that no longer even seems to bother them. They are incapable of self-examination. Not a single one of them would be able to build a new house to live in while their house was getting renovated and yet when it comes to the collective lot of them, that is exactly what they are doing.

I’m surprised they let that go to print, it’s pretty scathing.

Typical Dem responses in the comment sections:

blaming republicans when not a single republican voted for it(reminds me of Bammycare)

I have to go look again, I didn’t see where the comments section was when I went to the source link.

State legislators are for the most part just minor leaguers training for the major league in the District of Corruption.

I am starting to wonder that as the Federals continue on this path of assuming more and more power and control, if state governments as presently constituted are becoming obsolete.

I see it all over whenever I go to a government building, whether it is the state office building (SOB), a county or municipal courthouse, the parking near the door is for the fat lazy employees, not the poor beleaguered taxpayers who own the effing facility.

All who voted for this should be forced to commute there via their precious choo choo train.
