Latest ObamaCare surprise: Most won't be able to buy health insurance until end of year
Fox News ^ | Jim Angle

here is yet another ObamaCare surprise waiting for consumers: from now until the next open enrollment at the end of this year, most people will simply not be able to buy any health insurance at all, even outside the exchanges.

"It's all closed down. You cannot buy a policy that is a qualified policy for the purpose of the ACA (the Affordable Care Act) until next year on January 1," says John DiVito, president of Flexbenefit which has 2,500 brokers.

tens of millions of people will be locked out of the health insurance market for the rest of this year.

I’ve never been so happy to be a veteran, and not under this evil nonsense, in my whole life.

There’s no way I can afford to buy Obamacare with the new premiums that are triple the amount they used to be with a deductible that is almost 6 times higher. Let them bury my carcass when I die at the hospital becuz I can’t afford to buy the insurance or pay the bill

Before Barky-Care, you could sign up for health insurance any time you would like. However, when an entity contracts with insurance companies, due to contractual requirements, you've got "open enrollment" for a fixed period of time. If you don't get your insurance during that open enrollment, you're out of luck until the next time open enrollment.

That was actually written into Barky-Care, though Barky kept extending the open enrollment period (illegally, since it was written into the law.)

This overstates the problem.

If you are eligible, you can apply for Medicaid all year, every year.

You can also apply for a “Paid” policy all year, any year, after a “Major Life Event.”

Such events include births, marriage, divorce, job loss, moving to a new state, large income change, and a few more I can’t remember.

In Washington state, and perhaps nationally, Native Americans and Native Alaskans can apply all year, any year.

What did people NOT understand about the words, “Open” Enrollment?

And, just to further my point...what is the opposite of the word “Open”?

What a clever WRINKLE...eh?

Perhaps this is why the IRS hired all those agents...and armed them.

Didn't you read the bill? It's right there on page 2,349.
