INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard crews kept up their battle Monday to clear pathways for vessels hauling vital raw materials on the ice-clogged Great Lakes, where a shipping logjam forced a weeklong shutdown of the nation's largest steel factory.
Traffic remained largely at a crawl after a winter that produced some of the heaviest ice on record across the five inland seas, where more than half the surface area remained solid this week. Icebreaking ships slogging across Lake Superior were still encountering ice layers 2 feet to 3 feet thick. In some areas, wind and wave action created walls of ice up to 14 feet high...

Mitten ping
Man made gorebal warming ping also.
The locks opened on the 25th of last month but have seen almost no traffic. They didn’t see a single ship aside from the icebreaker on the first day.
When will we get sad global warming pictures of polar bears stranded on melting ice just off the Toledo coast?
welcome a new 400 year long Ice age.
Plenty of fire wood, then...
Did anyone see Face the Nation on Sunday? Had on Heidi Cullen and Tom Friedman who pushed the party line about how the sky was going to fall due to man-caused global warming. Cullen is the now-former Weather Channel climatologist who said any weather person who didn’t follow the party line should be fired and Friedman said that 98% of scientists believe in AGW. Cullen really put the fear of the future forth saying we need to act now! Friedman compared the 3% who disagreed to Trotsky-like radicals. Hysteria, hysteria, hysteria!!!
Yes, I watched a few minutes of it until it became apparent the “settled science” meme became obvious. Cullen was not paying attention when the Weather Channel founder said the climate has changed and will change but man has little or nothing to do with it. A lot of crap is being taught in schools now as fact that isn’t and it really pisses me off.
