Yes, but our marines could not piss on the dead. I’ve read stories from the Pacific of men using skulls as ashtrays.

Methinks in these days of twitter and facebook, the horrors of war are judged by those who have never smelled it.

When the Russians go all Russian in Ukraine, what will our poor folks think about the brutality of war.

The US is in a bad place these days. I am not advocating atrocities. But our people have been shielded. There are bad things coming.

When I got back from VN and joined the VFW I got to know a lot of WW2 vets aside from my Family, in my area mostly Marines.

The skulls that I heard about were urinals and gold a miners dream. The people that fought in the Islands went through SH*T that I cannot imagine, I went through TET and a couple of actions that were bad but not that bad.

People of that age were really, really pissed that they were Japed, as the term went, and decided to whip some payback and they did.

As much as I respect the young men on the line, their war or mine is not bad war as was WW2. I have talked to a lot of German and American Vets from WW2 over the years and many agree that he ETO was not nearly as nasty as the Pacific War.
