See the Fox News special, “Enemies of the State” for details of this horrible case of government bullying in Harry Reid’s state of Nevada. It is shameful that such a thing can happen in America. The Founders would be extremely ashamed of what this nation has become.

No they wouldn't, they'd find money to finance G. Washington and await the news of the battle

THAT'S the difference between then and now .... men actually acted upon a challenge and were willing to kill and die for principle.

From the article, I did not get the impression that he was grazing on his own land. Rather, that he was grazing on federal land and not paying the fees.

“...bulling a man on his own property...”

He doesn’t own it. Public land. Not private.

You see, out west cattle ranching tends to rely on access to public lands in order to ensure adequate grazing. It would not be economically feasible for most ranchers to run cattle in a number of western states if they couldn’t graze on BLM land, and BLM land makes up a significant portion of the land in western states (more than half the land is owned by the government in some states).

What we’re seeing here is an intersection of private business interests and public property. I can see good arguments from both sides, the state has a vested interest in preventing over-use and destruction of public lands and the habitat therein, and likewise the public and private businesses have a right to utilize that land - and indeed their livelihood may depend on it.

In the video there a clearly cattle feeding in bottom land. The is most likely his. In Nevada most bottom land is owned by private parties.

Not his property, the way I read the article. He claims certain "rights" to the use of the property.

The situation sucks, but is not going to turn out well for him, I'm afraid.

It sounds like the land has been used for grazing for many generations. If so, the argument that this is destructive seems pretty weak.

No, in 1993 the BLM closed the land to grazing in order to protect the habitat. Prior to 1993 ranchers could pay fees in exchange for grazing rights. This rancher just kept running his cattle on the land.

I don’t know about Nevada but around here if the Feds want his cattle off that land they need to fence it off.

He is not the first rancher the BLM has done this to. Where is the ACLU when a real issue exists. Where is the supreme court ???
Oh wait they are deciing a gay issue... real important to butt stuffers .... but ranchers... pffft they actually produce something useful... What use is the land if not to graze cattle. $1 mil+ costs to round up 500 head? Lets say they shut down every rancher in the area then what ???? build more FEMA CAMPS.... ??????? one man vs an army.... RUBY RIDGE / WACO REDUX

The Feds need to be stripped of their Forest and Grassland acerage. 5% to the State per annum would bea good start.

Or they could sell it off to pay the National Debt.

90% of NEVADA IS FEDERALLY OWNED..... by the way..... WHY?
privatize it and be done with the need for BLM in the first place... we have enough EPA, Interior Dept, Energy Dept... useless bureaucrats wasting our taxpayer money... WASTE... The feds own 30% of the land in the USA...... why???? Sell it and reduce the debt...

“No, in 1993 the BLM closed the land to grazing in order to protect the habitat. Prior to 1993 ranchers could pay fees in exchange for grazing rights. This rancher just kept running his cattle on the land.”

An almost identical scenario played out here in the Gila National Forest a number of years ago. Kit Lanney owned the Diamond Bar Ranch and it’s accompanying grazing allotments when the FS decided they wanted the allotments closed due to the gang-greens. He and his wife held out and had support from fellow ranchers, and were despised by all the newly immigrated enviro-nazis. The Diamond Bar ultimately lost the allotment.

I admire these folks for making a stand and not giving in to what ultimately amounts to Agenda 21 and Dave Forman’s ‘corridor projects’. With 10’s of thousands of farmers out of work in California (and many more to come), it surprises me that there are not at least a few of them willing to irrigate their crops, minnow be damned.

Ping.

Not only is the rancher kept off these public lands, but everyone his. I and my crew HAD bird surveys in the Gold Butte area (including the Virgin River area all the way to Overton) but access has been denied by the Feds. This is a huge area of public lands: and NO ONE is allowed on it now!

The USSA is now a police state.
