Students Fed Up With Michelle Obama’s School Lunch Overhaul — Menu-Item Snapshots Spell Out Why

First, about one million public school students said “no way” to their cafeteria menus after Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity campaign led to anger and frustration over food that apparently many American kids didn’t want to stomach.

But for those without other options, all that’s left is the power of social media and cell phone cameras when they simply can’t take another bite:

When I was a teenager I used to pack the food away. I would have a couple of sandwiches from home and because I had a job I would buy a hot lunch and extras if I like the meal. I would hit the burger joints and have 2 double burgers along with the fries and coke. When I went into the service at 18 I was 6’ and weighed less than 150 lbs. I think the difference back in the 50’s and 60’s is that we were active. Constantly. We were always looking for a sandlot baseball or football game. We skated in the winter. We dug underground forts and tree houses. Even summer and week end jobs were active. If you burn the calories you are taking in then you won’t get fat.

why does she have this power?

Because she is a Leftie and the idea looked good on paper.

Remember, Libs are never judged by the results, only by their intent.

Michelle would NOT eat any of that crap shown in any of those pix.

Because the loyal public education fuehrers (a.k.a. administrators) are lock step Mao-bama boot lickers.

Ever sharpen sticks on the sidewalk to use as swords, spears, or arrows?

“It would be interesting to see pictures of the
typical “lunches” at Sidwell Friends school.
Bet they don’t look anything like these.”

There are things on the Sidwell menu like Frisée of field greens, which for public school is a piece a lettuce.

True story:

When my nephew was in elementary, he would not eat school lunches. Thus, my sister had to make his lunch. All he would eat was a lettuce and mustard sandwich — bread slice, mustard, leaf of lettuce, mustard, bread slice. No meat and no other add-ons. That was it. That was all he would eat.

At the beginning of each new school year, my sister would have to make a trip to the school and explain to his teachers that she was NOT punishing nor depriving him.

He finally grew out of that by junior high.

No. Back then we all had knives to sharpen things. Carried them everywhere. Even to school. Matter of fact, where I grew up, it was a pretty good trip to find a sidewalk.

If I was a mom of one of these kids.......I would organize a protest and the moms and kids would all be carrying blown up pics of Obama and Michelle stuffing their faces with real food alongside these pics of these meager portions. Make it an ensemble of pics of the haves and have nots directed to the administrators of these schools.

Sorry hit post too fast. Lol
Make it an issue of ‘fairness’ since the left is so enamoured of that word.

My mother worked in a school cafeteria (1978 - 1983). She went to have lunch with one of her grand daughters a few months ago and was disturbed and appalled when she saw what the school served the kids at lunch. She said the same thing as you did. When she worked in the school cafeteria, they made food from scratch. Pizza, spaghetti, burritos, salad, cookies, brownies, you name it. Guess this is what happens when you allow an unaccomplished, incompetent, angry woman from the ghetto total control over school lunches. As to how and why she has the authority to do such a thing is beyond me.

Well, now that I think about it, I was only referring to when I was in the second grade.

When you choose to get a free lunch, you lose choice over the contents of the meal.

Exactly. Beggars can't be choosers.
