After months of ranting and raving about “universal” checks, bans on semi-automatic rifles, and bans on standard-capacity ammunition magazines designed for defensive purposes, Piers Morgan ended his last TV show last Saturday by advocating an end to civilian ownership of all firearms. Lecturing Americans one last time, Morgan said “guns belong on a military battlefield. . . . Not in the hands of civilians.”
We can at least credit Morgan for his belated honesty. Over the last year or so, Morgan rubbed us the wrong way, as he did millions of TV viewers. He talked when he should have listened. He disrespected his show’s guests. He repetitively engaged in self-righteous (and self-indulgent) monologues, while cutting off others. He repeatedly went out of his way to show that he didn’t care what we thought about his personal behavior, his extreme views on guns, and his mistaken belief that Americans would base their political decisions on his own English sensibilities. That hasn’t been a winning formula since at least 1776.

In the end, however, at least Morgan came clean about where he would like the debate over gun control to end. Other gun control advocates are not nearly so candid. Take the Brady Campaign. It began in 1974 as the National Council to Control Handguns and openly admitted that it wanted handguns to be registered, and then their private ownership banned. Yet today it pretends that registration and its potential use in enforcing a firearm ban has nothing to do with the group’s support for a "universal" checks law.

The gun control movement is all about a total ban, one gun at a time. They will never stop.
An end to civilian ownership of all firearms is the end game of everyone who demands “common sense gun control.”
Pity the poor Monarchist on his little mission to destroy the ability of the Little People to resist the King’s Men.

Someday, Piers, it may ALL be a military battlefield.
We cannot forever depend upon others to fight our battles for us. When the war comes to one’s own doorstep, it shall be far too late for an application to the central government regarding a permit to keep and bear arms.
Not even to consider the logistics in actually obtaining firearms or ammunition should that situation prevail.

I had a dream the other night, I didn’t understand.
A figure walking through the mist, with flintlock in his hand.
His clothes were torn and dirty, as he stood there by my bed.

You’ve taken Satan’s number, as you’ve traded in your name.
“You’ve given government control, to those who do you harm,
So they can padlock churches, and steal the family farm,
And keep our country deep in debt, put men of God in jail,
Harass your fellow countrymen, while corrupted courts prevail.
“Your public servants don’t uphold the solemn oath they’ve sworn.
Your daughters visit doctors, so their children won’t be born.
Your leaders ship artillery, and guns to foreign shores,
And send your sons to slaughter, fighting other people’s wars.
“Can you regain the freedom for which we fought and died?
Or don’t you have the courage, or the faith to stand with pride?
Are there no more values for which you’ll fight to save?
Or do you wish your children, to live in fear and be a slave?
“People of the Republic, arise and take a stand!
Defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land!
Preserve our Great Republic, and GOD-Given Right!
And pray to GOD, to keep the torch of Freedom burning bright!”
As I awoke he vanished, in the mist from whence he came.
His words were true, we are not Free, we have ourselves to blame.
For even now as tyrants, trample each GOD-Given Right,
We only watch and tremble, too afraid to stand and fight.
If he stood by your bedside, in a dream, while you’re asleep,
And wonders what remains of our Rights he fought to keep,
What would be your answer, if he called out from the grave:
“IS THIS STILL THE LAND OF THE FREE AND HOME OF THE BRAVE???”

I think you’re being extremely generous. Given how much is going on in the world today, I feel that in two years or even less, nobody will even remember who or what he is.

Final farewell, if only! Morgan is like acid reflux, painful and unwelcome. No wait, that’s unfair and doesn’t do him justice, Morgan is actually more like a hemorrhoid. Yeah that’s much better!
