Asked about what to do with the people here illegally, however, he stressed that he had never tried to undo the goal of allowing them to stay.

“The amendment that I introduced removed the path to citizenship, but it did not change the underlying work permit from the Gang of Eight,” he said during a recent visit to El Paso. Mr. Cruz also noted that he had not called for deportation or, as Mitt Romney famously advocated, self-deportation.

Mr. Cruz said recent polling indicated that people outside Washington support some reform, including legal status without citizenship. He said he was against naturalization because it rewarded lawbreakers and was unfair to legal immigrants. It also perpetuates illegal crossings, he added.

Besides barring citizenship while instituting some level of legalization for those here already, Mr. Cruz has proposed increasing the number of green cards awarded annually, to 1.35 million from 675,000. He also wants to eliminate the per-country limit that he said left applicants from countries like Mexico, China and India hamstrung when they tried to gain legal entry to this country.

I see nothing wrong with his statements. He makes sense, a lot of sense.

But you ignore that he is against any type of immigration reform while democrats control the Senate.

Cruz is saying when conservatives like him are in power, immigration reform is a must because it is indeed broken. It rewards the wrong kind of people and it must be changed so that it is not a national security concern.

Cruz is willing to consider legal status for illegals but only when conservatives are in power. I am fine with that. They will be documented as migrant workers and made to pay taxes and they won’t receive a special path to citizenship. Again this will happen when conservatives are in control and the economy supports it.

You go back and look at my posts and posts of other conservatives on this forum and you will see that migrant labor is favored when conservatives control the ground game with border security, with a stronger economy, when illegals are given migrant worker visas that do not effect American jobs.

My grandfather when he was alive ran a business in Tuscon. He hired plenty of migrant workers and paid them in cash. It wasn’t illegal when he did this. This was the 1960s and 1970s. He respected their work ethic and they benefited. The cash they earned allowed them to live 6 months out of the year in their homes on the Yucatan and they lived like kings with the cash they earned.

My father also employed many educated Americans in marketing, advertising, accounting, jobs that migrant workers couldn’t do. Migrant labor was mostly confined to warehouse activities, moving heavy objects, packaging. This situation benefited everyone. The migrants had no incentive, no compulsion to live as citizens in the USA. They had it too good where they came from.

That’s not the case any longer. Now they are a voter group target for the democrats and they are extended many protections and free things from the federal government via state agencies.

We are going to fix immigration big time, just not right now. This is what Cruz is saying, fix it but just not right now.

Cruz is with us. He’s smart and in tune with Tea party conservatism and that means you and me.

My God man, quoting the NY Times to buttress your fallacious mutterings.

Here’s the real Cruz:

“Ted Cruz Vows To Oppose Any Path To Legalization for Undocumented Immigrants”

http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/politics/2013/04/02/ted-cruz-vows-to-oppose-any-path-to-legalization-for-undocumented-immigrants/

“Sen. Ted Cruz is dead set against any path to legalization for undocumented immigrants, unless it sends them on a detour back to their native countries, he told talk show host Sean Hannity in an interview on Monday.”
