Coulter: Mitt Romney in 2016; "Cruz A Disaster On Illegal Immigration"
Real Clear Politics ^ | 4/3/2014 | Staff

HOWIE CARR, HOST: Who are you for, for president right now, Ann?

ANN COULTER: Well, don't tell him but I'm planning on giving Mitt Romney a little more time to rest -- flying out, kidnapping him and depriving him of sleep, food and water until he agrees to run again.

CARR: You're kidding?

COULTER: No.

CARR: You really want him to run again?

COULTER: Yeah, I think he was a fantastic candidate. As I've told you before, he would have won by a larger landslide than Ronald Reagan did in 1980 without Teddy Kennedy's immigration bill. And it's basically impossible to beat an incumbent, but he is head and shoulders better than the other candidates we had. And I don't want to name them, but I mean you go through the list -- and for one thing, as you and I discussed, and this is the most important point, that all of your listeners have to tell all of their friends knock it off with the Congressmen or inspirational figures. It's got to be a Governor or a Senator, preferably a Governor. And, you know, there is a limited world -- a list of who those people are, and they all have problems. None of them are articulate and reasonable, and as good on immigration as Mitt Romney! CARR: What about Ted Cruz?

COULTER: Well, he's a lot worse on immigration.

CARR: Is he that bad? I didn't think he was that bad on immigration.

COULTER: Well, most Republicans are, that's why you need to call your Congressman. I'm not singling out Ted Cruz, he has the same position a lot of these idiots have. 'Oh yes, let them come here and we have a special permit, we just won't give them citizenship. But we want to increase ...

Thank you for commenting on what she actually SAID, instead of just insulting her, like others on this thread.

When Republicans want to give amnesty, but not citizenship and welfare, to illegals, it amounts to saying, “Hey, Mr. Joe Schmoe...you know that squatter who broke into your guest house in the middle of the night? The guy who’s now trashing your guest house, blasting his music all night long, bringing in his whole family, stealing your food, and leering at your daughter? The guy you asked the police to remove? Well, we’re not going to remove him. He gets to stay in your guest house and keep doing all those things. But hey, it’s all right, Mr. Schmoe! Because we’re not going to let him be a member of your family! He won’t be an actual Schmoe. There. Doesn’t that make everything okay?”

I had a discussion about illegal immigration with a Vietnamese woman who owns a small business in my area. She resents illegals. She and her family came here legally and received financial assistance from the government for the first several months. They had to pay back every dime, but illegals get free access.

Ted Cruz wants to let illegals stay. The ones that are here now and came illegally. TED CRUZ WANTS THEM TO STAY. Mitt Romney is not the answer but let’s be clear about who Ted Cruz is.

People like Coulter, Palin and others have found a market. They mine that market by telling it what it wants to hear. Their public statements may be quite different from the way they think and live their lives. I have heard that Coulter is quite liberal in her private life. It should be expected that the liberalism will occasionally “pop out!”

Cruz has been spot on with true conservatives regarding immigration reform.
.........................................
TED CRUZ WANTS ILLEGALS THAT ARE HERE NOW TO BE ALLOWED TO STAY. FOREVER. That sure as hell isn’t where I am. How about you?

As I’ve said many times, illegal aliens are thieves of the American Dream.

I think welfare is. To me, rewarding those who CAN but WON'T work is the thief of the American Dream.

Imagine the problems that would be fixed if we had REAL welfare reform.

If immigration reform was so great that we need Romney again, why didn't he win the first time?

Ann Coulter's common sense switch was turned off about 4 years ago, when she went on her romance for Chris Christie. Only Christie could win and save the GOP. FAIL.

Now, she's off on immigration reform is what is needed to save the GOP, it's needed so much that Romney ought to run again.

Lunacy, Ann. You've lost your senses.

If 20,000,000 illegal immigrants can BREAK THE LAW without consequence, ...
.................................................
Ted Cruz wants just that. To let the illegals here now to be able to stay. Just be clear on that.

Much like Bill Maher, you have to wonder why anyone pays the least bit of attention to what she has to say. Where’s the significance?

What kind of mental defective believes the losing candidate from the previous election would be the best candidate in the next one?

"States are going with picture ID. Romney wil not fall for Crowley BS any more.

BTW, how many times did it take Reagan to win?"

Are you serious? You want that pro-abortion, pro-queer liberal to run again?

This is WEIRD stuff. The ONLY rational immigration reform is to first make it clear that ANYONE in this country illegally, will stay illegal. Then you get rid of the goodies - welfare, education, etc. Then you deal with employers and punish the crap out of them.

At that point the illegals don’t have much reason to stick around (and the economy in Mexico, at least, is doing quite well) - most should go home. For the ones that do stick around, you deport them as you come across them. Go in to pay a parking ticket - you’re deported (if caught).

Then you have a guest worker program. You bring in whatever amount of guest workers make sense. You require they apply in their HOME COUNTRIES and ONLY they, not their families come here. Their passes are good for 3 years. Prior illegal status in the US is not considered in any way. Then, after 3 years, they go home and can apply again (and if they behaved, they get moved forward in line). If they sneak their family into the US for a visit, or to stay, then they are deported and never allowed in this country. If they behave well, after some period of time as guest worker, maybe 12 years, they can apply to bring in their families and get a green card.

We do need guest workers, since American high school graduates are basically lazy bums and are often functional illiterates, thanks to their parents actually believe public schools exist to educate their kids.

Is this the same Mitt Romney that selected Paul Ryan as his running mate? We arte painfully aware of his stance on amnesty.

Senator is against any form of immigration reform while the democrats hold the Senate. All of what you post has nothing to do with amnesty for illegall aliens.

Many who are concerned about illegal immigration are also concerned that legal immigration levels are already too high. This is why US wages have stagnated, while European wages have caught up with, and in some cases, surpassed US wages. High unemployment levels and wage stagnation will not be resolved via large increases in labor supply.

I see nothing wrong with his statements. He makes sense, a lot of sense.

But you ignore that he is against any type of immigration reform while democrats control the Senate.

Cruz is saying when conservatives like him are in power, immigration reform is a must because it is indeed broken. It rewards the wrong kind of people and it must be changed so that it is not a national security concern.

Cruz is willing to consider legal status for illegals but only when conservatives are in power. I am fine with that. They will be documented as migrant workers and made to pay taxes and they won’t receive a special path to citizenship. Again this will happen when conservatives are in control and the economy supports it.

You go back and look at my posts and posts of other conservatives on this forum and you will see that migrant labor is favored when conservatives control the ground game with border security, with a stronger economy, when illegals are given migrant worker visas that do not effect American jobs.

My grandfather when he was alive ran a business in Tuscon. He hired plenty of migrant workers and paid them in cash. It wasn’t illegal when he did this. This was the 1960s and 1970s. He respected their work ethic and they benefited. The cash they earned allowed them to live 6 months out of the year in their homes on the Yucatan and they lived like kings with the cash they earned.

My father also employed many educated Americans in marketing, advertising, accounting, jobs that migrant workers couldn’t do. Migrant labor was mostly confined to warehouse activities, moving heavy objects, packaging. This situation benefited everyone. The migrants had no incentive, no compulsion to live as citizens in the USA. They had it too good where they came from.

That’s not the case any longer. Now they are a voter group target for the democrats and they are extended many protections and free things from the federal government via state agencies.

We are going to fix immigration big time, just not right now. This is what Cruz is saying, fix it but just not right now.

Cruz is with us. He’s smart and in tune with Tea party conservatism and that means you and me.
