Five years ago, I drove from FL to WA, a drive I actually enjoy. A detour thru St. Louis sent me thru what seemed to be Mogadishu. Scary, especially for a woman alone.

I love road trips, but I never stop for any reason near an urban center. I agree, St Louis is scary.

A detour thru St. Louis sent me thru what seemed to be Mogadishu. Scary, especially for a woman alone.We have to drive through east Austin to get to the airport, unless we want to use toll road SH 130. I make sure the doors are locked when we hit IH 35.
