Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) is many miles west of Detroit proper, a far suburb, and is safe. Coleman A. Young city airport, near downtown, on the other hand...

Thanks for National Lampoon stuff, I seem to have missed out on a lot of fun.

Unless Detroit City Airport goes commercial again, he'd be flying into Romulus (Detroit Metro Airport), not Detroit. Romulus isn't a great area either, but the Airport's safe and off of I-94 and I-275 so you don't have to go to the hood.

The thing to remember is that in Michigan, Detroit means the City of Detroit proper. Suburbs do not equal Detroit outside of Pontiac or Inkster.

Although the best part of Michigan is North of Bay City. God's Country.
