ATF Director: 'Wish I Had Better Answers' About ATF Agents Probing a Tea Party Conservative
CNS News ^ | 3 Apr 2014 | Susan Jones

CNSNews.com) - B. Todd Jones, director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, couldn't tell Congress why his agents made two visits to a tea party conservative in a 13-month period -- but only after she requested tax-exempt status for her conservative group, True the Vote.

Catherine Engelbrecht had a Federal Firearms License (FFL) for 12 years. "And suddenly she applies for tax exempt status, and you're knocking on her door twice in 13 months," Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) told Jones at a hearing on Wednesday.

"Congressman, I wish I had better answers," Jones said.

Jordan noted that ATF generally does FFL compliance inspections only in cases with "high-risk indicators," such as criminal activity -- but none of those indicators applied to Engelbrecht:

"Imagine what this lady felt like," a heated Jordan told Jones.

"She gets the full weight of the federal government coming down on her and her family and her business, and all she's trying to do is get a tax-exempt status that had been routine for 50 years, and suddenly now the federal government (is) saying, no, no, no -- you're not going to get that tax-exempt status, and we're going to send four federal agencies out to harass you, including yours."

Maybe a few weeks in jail would improve the accuracy of his response.

Sadly, that option is considered so far out-of-the-question, no one in the Federal Bureaucracy would take such a possibility seriously.

Yep, as would jail time for anyone that can be shown as “targeting” anyone for political reasons.

Any gov’t employee that uses his position to target political opponents should actually be subject to life in prison at the least. It’s THAT heinous.

I doubt it. Maybe in the coming months and years, instead of just coming to visit, they will be coming to haul us away, or do a Branch Davidian on us. I hope not, but who knows for sure?

It’s clear that this administration has no hesitation in using all the power available in multiple agencies to harass and shut down any and all political dissent (real or imagined).

This level of paranoia exceeds anything Nixon displayed.

“Congressman, I wish I had better answers,” Jones said.

He means, “I wish we had thought to plant something incriminating, we’ll be more thorough in the future.”

Elijiah Cummings is up to his bloodshot eyeballs in this investigation

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1012/82584.html

Elijah Cummings confronts anti-vote-fraud group

Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, ranking member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has sent two letters to the Houston-based organization seeking “specific documents about the manner in which True the Vote and its affiliated organizations have been challenging the registration of thousands of voters across the country based on insufficient, inaccurate and faulty evidence.”

...............

Cummings complained that True the Vote has “not produced a single document” yet in response to his original Oct. 4 letter, but has asked for a face-to-face meeting with the Maryland Democrat. Cummings declined any such meeting until True the Vote turns over the information he is seeking, which includes estimates of the number of poll monitors it will field, where these monitors will be sent, and copies of the voter rolls it is using to determine voter eligibility.

Back when it was the BATF I attended a high-end gun show in Tennessee. There were hundreds of venders. A BATF team was walking around as we set up. At the front was a man with really exotic $5,000 antique guns. Suddenly they were shouting at him. They threw cuffs on him, then while he watched they brought a trash bin over and purposely slammed these $5,000 antiques into the bin. It was obvious they were causing damage on purpose. I asked my Uncle, who was a small individual dealer, what was going on and he said, “It’s intimidation. They’re just keeping everybody in line. They’ll release him at the end of the show and give him his guns back.” That’s exactly what they did. It was one of the most astonishing things I’d ever witnessed.

I’ll tell you though, the BATF really pissed the dealers off. My feeling was if there was something they could do to pull one over on them, even if they wouldn’t have done it before they’d do it now. There were state tax revenuers walking the show. The dealers, including my uncle, would wait until the tax guys were tied up and then pack and vamoose. I’d wager they collected only a small percentage of the tax. Granted that wasn’t a BATF thing, but the BATF’s actions set the atmosphere. Everybody was darned angry.

That was a lesson in what the BATF really is; essentially a terrorist organization with badges.

I am wondering if this has anything to do with those DHS terrorist guides that were changed from Islam to Domestic Right Wing terrorists.
