NASA suspends ties with Russian gov't officials over ongoing crisis in Crimea

NASA has suspended contact with Russian government representatives, citing ongoing violations of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, FoxNews.com confirmed.

"Given Russia's ongoing violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, NASA is suspending the majority of its ongoing engagements with the Russian Federation," NASA spokesman Allard Beutel told FoxNews.com.

News of NASA's decision came Wednesday afternoon when an internal letter written by a top official was leaked.

“This suspension includes NASA travel to Russia and visits by Russian Government representatives to NASA facilities, bilateral meetings, email, and teleconferences or videoconferences,” states the letter, which was written by Michael F. O'Brien, NASA’s associate administrator for international and interagency relations.

However, ongoing activities at the International Space Station (ISS) have been exempted from the rules, as well as “multilateral meetings held outside of Russia that may include Russian participation.”

"NASA and Roscosmos will, however, continue to work together to maintain safe and continuous operation of the International Space Station," Beutel confirmed.

There are currently two Americans onboard the ISS.

So they’re going to get our Astronauts on the space station stranded?

On the other hand, we should not be working with Russia (a potential enemy) on this stuff to begin with.

Now NASA will have more resources to squander on their Muzzie outreach.

I thought NASA’s Obamagoal was Muslim outreach anyway.

Right! As I implied in my first post, now that we have given them everything, it is a little late to be shutting them out..

When the Americans on-board are normally returned at the end of their terms, suddenly “up-bound” seats will be “all booked up” due to blah blah blah — and the “International” Space Station (should never have been called that) will be unavailable to any Americans at all any more, till relations are patched — maybe a long time.

Idiots.

Jimmah gave away the Panama Canal, and this current idiot will have given away the internet and the “International” Space Station. For, essentially, nothing.

At what point do they shove the 2 Americans uo there into the Soyuz and send it on its merry way back to Erf?

Boy, I’m sure glad we maintained the capability for manned space flight. Oh, wait ...

Maybe they can yank Atlantis off the ceiling at KSC ...

My prediction for the next space disaster board of inquiry report: “we rushed the man-rating of the SpaceX platform, ignored all the lessons learned, and another crew was tragically lost.”

No?

Oh.

Wouldn’t it be excellent if Russia removed a US astronaut and filled in with one from Crimea?......

Sure looks like either the Americans do a spacewalk ala GRAVITY or unretire a Shuttle.

... oh that will show them! BTW Mr. Obama, what happens to our investment in the “International Space Station”? Do we list it on Craig’s List or Ebay.

Wanted: somebody to by a slightly used space station in Low Earth Orbit. Lost our ride and can not vacation there any longer. Serious buyers only. Must pay cash.
