From day one, by unanimous vote of our Senior Drill Instructor, we were a non-smoking platoon. Perhaps so the entire Series. One fellow managed(will&way)to sneak a puff on mess duty, got caught and was treated to a whole pack; hot-boxed with a bucket over his head.
BTW, I stopped smoking in 2003.
I remember the DI making me eat my can of snuff in boot camp.
Cured me of wanting to chew for quite a few years.
