HARTFORD -Starting Tuesday, April 1, long guns may not be sold or transferred in Connecticut without a permit to carry pistols or revolvers or an eligibility certificate for pistols or revolvers or a long gun eligibility certificate, according to the state police.
The law is part of the package of gun control legislation passed by the General Assembly last year after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Other parts of the law had already taken effect.
The law required owners of assault weapons that were banned under the law to register their guns by Jan. 1, 2014. That was also the deadline for the registration of large capacity magazines. The law also put in place universal background checks, barred the sales of ammunition to anyone under 18 and created a dangerous weapon offender registry.
The state police said as of Tuesday, that the permits can also be used for the purchase of ammunition. Anyone intending to purchase only ammunition and not any further firearms will be required only to obtain an ammunition certificate.
According to the state police, sales authorization numbers will be required for all firearm sales, retail or private, and must be submitted to the Special Licensing and Firearms Unit using form DPS-3-C (sale or transfer of all firearms). A DPS-67-C form (application to purchase firearms) must be filled out and retained by the seller. The forms are available at the state DESPP website...

If it has to start somewhere, it may as well be there . . .
If I lived in CT, I would be planning my move NOW.
That may be difficult if you try to buy/sell a gun. These politicans need to be shown the door in a very public way.
But...but...it’s for the children.
I see some more Civil disobedience coming up in Connecticut.
Nervous widows will be among the few to comply.
I see a splendid opportunity for firearms “leasing” agencies. The firearm would not be sold, but merely rented long-term. Like an apartment or a car. Or a library book. And for a fee, the lessor will “insure” against loss of the firearm in a canoing accident.
What state?
Connecticut is surrounded by New York, Massachussets, and Rhode Island, all anti-gun communist enclaves.
Drive to PA. Only need a drivers license. Just came back from New Holland, PA sportsman shop. .22LR box of 500 on the front counter $28, piled high.
Since there is no way to prove whether a sale or trade took place before or after the law changed (unless you are stupid enough to date a receipt or accept a check). Obeying the law is essentially on the "honor system"...
there are a lot of back roads, between NH and CT, MA, VT.
Fact: snowmobile trails have been used to transport drugs.
Then the gun owners of Connecticut had better be ready to answer the question that isn’t being seriously asked yet: “Are you ready to shoot a cop?” This isn’t just Hyperbole. Its not going to be some soccer mom in the Connecticut legislature smashing in doors to arrest gun owners, it’s going to be cops. And a lot of them. And they already know that they are ready to shoot whoever they need to shoot.
The Sandy Hook HOAX takes full effect! Malloy should be arrested!
Why. It take a charter boat 12 miles out? Or is there a federal law that comes into play
PRC-People’s Republic of Connecticut.
But...but...it’s for the children.
Why concentrate on the cops? Oh, they’re complicit, but many of them are just order-takers. Blame the pols who voted for this unconstitutional POS law...and, evidently, someone compiled a list of all of them, with home addresses. THOSE are the people that should be subjected to public ire. Check it out: http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2014/02/a-sipsey-street-public-service.html
I just pity some of them if a gunowner’s family is harmed/killed during a raid. Weeks/months/years later there is likely to be retribution.
Oh, BTW, I don’t live in CT or anywhere nearby...and I’m not planning to go there for anything at any point in the future. My previous post was just about facts that are out there, and a hypothetical discussion of what may happen in CT in the future. What I hope is that the CT legislators repeal this abomination and start respecting ALL of the rights of ALL of its citizens.
