Obamacare will cost large companies between $4,800 and $5,900 more per employee and add hundreds of millions to their overhead, according to a new survey.
The American Health Policy Institute conducted a confidential survey of 100 large employersthose with 10,000 or more employeesasking what costs they expect to incur from Obamacare over the next decade.
Factoring in the health care laws added mandates, fees, and regulatory burdens, employers anticipate cost hikes between $163 million and $200 million in 2016, a 4.3 percent increase. By 2023, employers will be paying 8.4 percent more than what they would otherwise be spending for their employees health care.
In the next 10 years, the total cost of Obamacare to all large American employers is estimated to be from $151 billion to $186 billion, according to the study.
This study is a c-suite diagnosis of how [the Affordable Care Act] ACA is shaping large employer behavior, Tevi Troy, president of the American Health Policy Institute, said. We dont know yet precisely how employers will react, but the study shows that employers will have to make real changes or incur heavy costs, which means that the ACA will have a significant impact on those in employer-sponsored health care.
While noting that some will say the results will lead to more economical use of health care dollars, the study questions whether the increase in health costs could bring the end of the employer-sponsored health care system.
If the law leads to significant cost increases for [employers], this would affect the behavior of employers, which could in turn affect howand even whetherthey provide health care for their employees, the study said.
Health care costs have already been increasing for large businesses...

Unicorns? I thought, at least according to the Irish Rovers, the unicorns did not make it onto the Arc :-)
You think?
And mandatory unions in every profession!
It won’t cost Cabela’s $5,000 more per year per employee. Cabela’s just had a mass layoff, about 10% of their employees at most stores nationwide. Virtually all of the layoffs were full time non-management employees with full benefits packages including medical. All of these employees were not actually “fired”, but converted to “seasonal” status, walked to the door, and were invited to re-apply for part time employment with no benefits. Suprisingly, many fired employees have done exactly that. So no outrageous “Obamacare” costs for Cabela’s, they are actually saving money because of Obamacare.
Go ahead Dems, keep pushing this crap sandwich. Things are getting worse each and every day.
My husband just took a job that only pays his. Me and kiddos are on our own. But, it is a very close commute. We figure it is all trending this way any way. He is also going to be making quite a bit less. Why kill ourselves to subsidize this disaster?
I think this was the plan all along. Backdoor the country in to single payer health care.
“Me and kiddos are on our own. He is also going to be making quite a bit less.”
Does he make enough less that your/kids insurance could get supplement from govn. to pay part of yours/kids? This whole insurance mess is going to kill this country.
My girlfriends husband just went in today. He went to get some eye RX he has gotten before. They said it wasn’t covered anymore and it would now be $200. Then they said, “Or you can go back to your doctor, get some code and it can be covered and it will only be $80”. I guess it was $40 before. They said, you guessed it, new rules per the (non)ACA.
If my kids were grown or very little, I swear, I'd go move to some little town out on the Aegean see and block this whole disaster out.
