The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has now been classified as a criminal investigation, according to Malaysia’s police chief. He also cautioned that the investigation may still not arrive at any concrete conclusions.
Specifically, authorities believe the plane's deliberate and abrupt turn off course could not have been simply the result of an accident. However, officials also announced on Wednesday, none of the passengers are suspected of any wrongdoing, leaving the investigation to focus solely on the crew at this time.
The current consensus is that radar and satellite data show the flight turning off course and flying back across Malaysia before heading out over the Indian Ocean. That change of course is being investigated as a “criminal act.” There is no information as to who committed the supposed criminal act.
Meanwhile, lawyers have already begun contacting families of those on board about possible multi-million-dollar settlements in U.S. courts over the incident. One law firm is floating the idea of legal action against Boeing, the plane’s manufacturer, although the obviously the lack of any real proof about what went wrong makes it unprecedented. From The New York Times:
"The rush is on to secure compensation for families of the flight’s 227 passengers, about two-thirds of whom are Chinese. Insurance companies [in China] have already made payments to some relatives. On top of that, the families can expect to receive compensation from Malaysia Airlines because of guarantees in an international treaty. They can also opt to sue the airline for more damages, or sue Boeing or a component manufacturer. Any lawsuit could take years to conclude."
Some families are reluctant to take legal action or even accept the payments required by international treaties in an event such as this one, instead hoping that the plane will still be found or suspecting that there is still information being covered up.

The rush is on for hordes of slobbering lawyers in need of yet another Mercedes and a summer home next door to the other summer home down the street from the ski chalet.
they have it stated wrong... the rush is to secure compensation for the lawyers.
They should take the same type of plane, outfit it with drone control and equivalent weight, fly it to it’s last location, turn off the engines, and see where it goes and what’s left.

My Guess: (hey it’s as good as all the others)
One or both of the pilots are in some sort of plot to hijak the plane and turn southwest at the moment a handoff from towers usually occurs.
The passengers catch on to it, and try to regain control of the plane, resulting in some sore of fire that kills everyone on board through smoke or flames or something.
Plane integrity is not breached, so it continues flying straight until it crashes int he ocean.
The government of Malaysia needs to be under the criminal microscope for all the lies they’ve told. They’ve been the worst players in all of this so far.
Would that "criminal act" include suffocating 238 people???
The Australian authorities are searching for fingerprints in the Indian Ocean to assist with the investigation.

my theory is that the disappearance was totally the result of a system failure somewhere on board. The conspiracies being supposed are fantastic to the point of being ridiculous.

The Malaysian government has known almost since the start that this was a criminal act, but because they were afraid it would lead to Islamics within their country and either official complicity or staggering official ineptitude, they have been out front frantically trying to mislead the investigation since the very beginning.
I still think that the plane did not crash but that the passengers are probably dead (for one thing, no ransom-demanding jihadi is going to attempt to feed and keep alive 285 hostages out in some remote location) and that the objective was to get the plane and possibly the gold that was supposedly on it. There were a lot of theories at the beginning about its destination being Somalia or some other Muslim pirate-infested African hell-hole.
I don’t know, but at least we’re one step closer to acknowledging that it was an act of air piracy.
Funny they ruled out the criminal (at the least) Iranians with fake identities in the first week, but take more than 3 weeks for families and calligraphers and computer nerds.
And if no passengers are suspects, that means the crew...
( and who knows who else that wasn’t on the plane...)

How do you know there was no ransom demand?
Well, that’s true, we really don’t know anything.
But aside from the logistical problems of holding that many hostages, no pirate in his right mind would think of demanding ransom from the Chinese government (most of the passengers were Chinese). I believe the Chinese recently destroyed a boatload of pirates in the China Sea.
It doesn't answer the question that will never be answered, even if you're correct. How the heck in an era when someone is probably surveilling this post and a drone can probably know what I eat for lunch can a huge plane with hundreds of passengers on a regularly scheduled flight be lost or stolen and then not found in this amount of time?
