Dick Cheney Behind Closed Doors Is Basically Like Dick Cheney in Public, But With More Obama Bashing
New York Magazine ^ | Joe Coscarelli

Posted on 04/01/2014 2:36:16 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Former Vice-President Dick Cheney gave the private keynote address over the weekend at billionaire and attempted kingmaker Sheldon Adelson's Republican Jewish Coalition meeting, hitting all of the notes you'd expect and then some. In a recording obtained by Mother Jones, Cheney can be heard going especially hard on the room's key issue — Israel — explaining, "The bottom line is, the United States' position in [the Middle East] is worse than at any time in my lifetime." A reference to bombing Iran's nuclear program was met with hearty laughs and supportive applause.

On Obama

The presidential promise to protect the country from "all enemies foreign and domestic," Cheney said, "is not being pursued in any kind of coherent manner."

On weak Republicans (cough, Rand Paul)

"One of the things that concerns me first about the campaign, that I'm worried about, is what I sense to be an increasing strain of isolationism, if I can put it in those terms, in our own Party. It's not taking over, by any means, but there is without question a body of thought now that's supported by many Republicans and some candidates that the United States can afford to turn its back on that part of the world."

On the NSA (and Obama)

"[The idea] that we have created in the National Security Agency this monster bureaucracy that's reading everybody's mail, listening to everybody's phone calls, infringing upon our civil liberties and civil rights. Hogwash," he said. "We don't have a president who can stand up and defend the program. Nobody believes him — for good reason. Look what he did with health care."

Among GOP hawks, that's like hitting for the cycle. The rest can be heard here:

OMFG... That's hysterical. And brilliant.

I've long believed that all the hand-wringing over the NSA was over the top. Sorry, I mean... I dislike Obama as intensely as anyone... But he's just not got the NSA reading our emails and listening to our phone calls. First, because the NSA doesn't care about us, but second... If they could do that halfway competently they wouldn't have pooched Obamacare so bad.

I’ve always really respected Dick Cheney. I think he’s one of the most underrated and unfairly maligned public servants of the century. I don’t understand how anybody can see someone other than a genuinely decent, committed American patriot. Sure I may disagree with a few things here and there, but in the big picture... We need more like him around.

Obama got elected. TWICE. With huge, effective techniques in data mining to get out the vote. (Twice if needed). I’m not sure obamacare was meant to work. (”What we REALLY need is a single-payer system. That would be easier”). But I bet they are getting more data for their political machine. And lots of similar stuff from the NSA.

And it wouldn’t surprise me that Cheney is putting down the competency of the NSA. He and Bush were the ones that got the bigger ball rolling faster on that stuff in the fight against terrorism. “Ha. The NSA. You don’t need to worry about THEM!”

In a recording obtained by Mother Jones...,

What on earth is Mother Jones, that ultraleft rag of a magazine, doing at a Republican Jewish Coalition event? Infiltrating it, that's what, just as they got into a private Romney fund raising event in 2012 and got a "big" media scoop to the effect that Romney said that 47% of Americans on some government program were unlikely to vote him.

Memo to RJC: When you invite VIPs like Dick Cheney to your events, get better security!

Said what? Dirty looks mean nothing in politics.

Bush’ and Cheney’s silence on the Obama matter put this country in jeopardy of irreparable damage.

They must’ve considered their personal reputation to be of higher importance than the welfare of the nation.

The RINOcracy had the goods on then-Senator Obama in 2006, when he raised millions, went to Kenya with Dick Morris, and campaigned his ass off for Raila Odinga, A COMMIE, A JIHADI, A KILLER OF CHRISTIANS,, and then an invitee to The Mombasa MF's inauguration.

A Soros-funded deal, passed through the Clinton Foundation. GW AND Cheney both deserve a kick in the slats for not vetting this werd-o.

Cheney, by law, could not have access to classified FBI, CIA and NSA files on individuals. Not within his powers as VP. Even the president’s counsel would have to make a powerful case for access to an individual’s file.

Now with Obama and his asskissing FBI directors, all bets are off re NOT violating that law.

What is in Obama’s files are up for conjecture, but I’d love to know what the FBI/CIA has on Obama’s ties to Soviet assets/operatives and Communist Party members/operatives.

I could try to tell you what I’m pretty sure should be in them, but that would be a very educated guess. Open documentation shows that Obama DID have contacts with Soviet and CPUSA assets and operatives, from Frank Marshall Davis to David Canter and others, including his personal physician Dr. Quentin Young, for many decades a covert member of the CPUSA, Illinois Communist Party, Chicago unit of medical personnel.

Those files are worth more to historians, reporters and patriots than all the gold in Fort Knox because they would show who have been the mentors, trainers and puppetmaster of Barack Obama since he was a young kid. Color then all RED.
