What I would like and love to see would be a three dimensional TV picture similar in shape and form of a cube, whose size could be adjusted and would be suspended in midair where ever you would like to watch the show. All of it based on holographic principles by means of a remote projector. In other words a person would be able to walk around it as this three dimensional image floats in midair and everything would be in the proper position, similar in comparison to walking around a car and all depending on your position as you walk around it, you will either see the side, front, back or opposite side.

In turn the size of this holographic picture cube could be adjusted so it would fit on your table top, or if you like, suspended in midair perhaps enlarged to 8 x 8 x 8 feet. There is little doubt in my mind that sooner or later we will have it, just like the flatpanel TV replaced the CRT tube, or the video recorder was replaced by DVD’s. One thing I am certain that who ever comes up with such a system would have struck not only a goldmine, but a goldmine laced with emeralds. I hope and wish to live long enough to see such an item.

The next phase in TV technology just hit the shelves: the 4K TV. I was blown away by the picture quality in the first 30 seconds. We bought one to replace our 15YO TV (RIP). I purchased a 3D DVD of Jurassic Park yesterday, and the experience was incredible. I could've sworn a couple of Raptors were going to attack me.

It won't be long before movies and shows will be filmed with 4K cameras. A few years after that, you may get your wish with holographic technology.
