I assumed that this non-story would have gone away on its own, but some conservative sites still insist on taking it seriously.
Some Alaskans apparently are not opposed to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent annexation of Crimea—in fact, they are hoping to be grabbed up next. More than 30,000 Alaskans have signed the petition “Alaska back to Russia,” pleading that the White House allow them to secede and join their native land. If the request garners 100,000 signatures by April 20, the White House will make an official response.
The petition titled “WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO: Alaska back to Russia” was clearly authored by a Russian language speaker with no sense of how grammar in this language works.
The author claims to be in Anchorage. With sentences like, “Vote for secession of Alaska from the United States and joining Russia” he’s more likely to be based out of Moscow.
Most of the signers don’t even list a state. The few who do list a state seem to be in New York. After scrolling a dozen pages, I’ve seen Akron, Ohio and Lutz, Florida and Bellevue, WA. I have yet to find one Alaskan signature.
Even one fake Alaskan signature.
I won’t speculate on the reason why people from other states might want to get rid of Alaska, but I’m sure if we had a petition to turn over California or New York to Russia, a bunch of people from other states might sign on to it too as a joke.
There’s enough Russian propaganda floating around the internet. I don’t see why conservative sites should be adding to it. It’s one thing to point out that Obama is weak and inept. It’s another thing to champion an enemy nation and its tyrant.
Alaska doesn't even rate as high as "flyover country" to them.
Last thread had broken buttons and no first post. I presume the reason it was pulled was because it couldn’t be replied to. (To use a preposition to end a sentence with)...

It's possible that some did without declaring their home state, but everyone who was willing to list their state was from elsewhere.
Maybe we should start a petition to secede the District of Columbia and surrounding counties to ... hmmm. China, as they already own them? Russia so Putin can clean them up? Zimbabwe as they are almost there already? or???

The OP is correct, I doubt ANY Alaska residents have asked to go back to Russia.
However, more than a few wish to break away from the USofA. The Alaska Independence Party (Fairbanks is quite a hotspot) pushed to secede from the US a few years back.
As far as Russia, no need, the State of Alaska (these days) is plenty socialist as it is...

Why would any American sign a petition to return Alaska to Russia when the petition was IP address traced back to Russia?
Let’s give them Massachusetts.
A. The number one agricultural product of Massachusetts is flowers.
B. The number one material mined in Massachusetts is sand.
I thought it kind of fishy. The other thing I noticed was the petition from Hawaii to leave the union.... Lot’s of signatures not from people living in Hawaii so these on line petitions are suspect.
That said, I lived in Anchorage for 4 yrs. I never met one person who longed for Russian domination. I did meet many that were sick of being controlled by the lower 48 though.
There is a successionist party there, what they really want is the one thing AK has never had; self determination. Nearly all of AK is owned not by Alaskans, or even the state of AK but rather by the Feds. This is why we can't drill for all the oil up there. If AK had self determination we'd be pumping lots more oil from there, with even more environmental safeguards.
