Officials with the Olathe School District issued an apology Friday after only black students were invited on a school outing.

On Wednesday, a letter was sent to Olathe South High School students by Assistant Principal Candy Birch. In the letter, Birch said in her role as activities director that she wanted to give students an additional opportunity to connect with each other.

"So we are planning an outing open to our African-American sophomores and juniors," she wrote.

The event on April 5 would include a visit to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, the American Jazz Museum, lunch at Arthur Bryant's and then a visit to the Nelson-Atkins Art Gallery to see the "History and Hope: Celebrating the Civil Rights Movement" exhibit.

When you pretend They don’t have special interests and needs they’re insulted.

Then you actively SHOW you understand They have special interests and needs, and WHAT HAPPENS...?

They’re insulted.

When Arthur Bryant died, the Kansas City Star printed an editorial cartoon with Arthur at the gates of heaven and St. Peter putting his arm around him and asking, "Did you bring sauce?"

That's one and the same Olathe, KS!

While working for the KC Royals, Rush Limbaugh once remarked after asking about Olathe, was told that "Olathe wasn't the end of the earth but you sure could see it from there."(FYI - Olathe is pronounced "O lay tha!)

White kids got a half of a mayonnaise sandwich and a free visit to the Wonder Bread day-old-bread store.

Racial segregation seemed to get worse in the northeast and rustbelt in the 1970s-1980s. “Mulitculturalism” is part of the proletarization of race that goes hack to the CPUSA’s idea in the 1930s to create a black Soviet in the southern United States.

This whole thing sounds racist.

Perks based solely on skin color?

Don’t know what could be more racist.

“Visualize the screams if a school held a “whites only” field trip.”

Just another example of Black Race Privilege.

“White kids got a half of a mayonnaise sandwich and a free visit to the Wonder Bread day-old-bread store.”

I believe my fifth grade class took that trip. We each got mini loaves of “white bread”. The horror (that was back in the 60’s). My uncle used to say he was so poor, he thought “day old” bread was a brand name.

Racism! .....Another Reason to Homeschool.

Government K-12 schooling is the **most** racially, economically, and class segregated institution in America. It is one of the most restrictive institutions when it comes to entrance requirements. Nothing in our nation comes even close in scale and pervasiveness of segregation.

What other institution requires buying a house or renting an apartment as a requirement for entrance? Answer: None!

Conservative school board is an oxymoron.

Why?

Reason: Because government schooling is ( and always has been) a single-payer and socialist-entitlement. It was never more than generically lukewarm in its Protestant worldview. Over the decades it grew progressively secular and is now utterly godless in its worldview.

Unless this “conservative” school board is actively working to shut down the godless single-payer schools and working to establish a completely private system, then they are **enablers**. They are not conservative.

I was speaking comparatively. And if she were mine I would find a way to home school. But it gives me some comfort. The parochial schools are no better around here. There are some Christian, evangelical based schools I might consider.

Liberal racism has ruined another happy connotation for me.

Yesterday, had you mentioned Olathe to me, I'd have said "Olathe, Kansas, near the end of Old West cattle drives, where many cowboys bought their cowboy boots. Home of Olathe Boot Company. I have a pair and love them."

Now I'll think "Olathe, Kansas. Where the high school took black students on a blacks-only field trip. And, oh, yeah, boots."

Thanks, liberal racists, for ruining my happy thoughts about Olathe.

(I did learn, however, that since buying my Olathe boots 20+ years ago, Olathe Boots has moved its production to Mercedes, Texas.)

Schools and, especially, colleges put together all of these single-race networking events—and then lament that there’s such a social racial divide at their schools!
