Where, oh where, are the watchdogs who came down on Richard Nixon in 1973 and 1974? Clearly, while Nixon, and many of his staff, may have used misdirection and some prevarications in covering up of certain actions of contractors in his employ, no such scrutiny or accountability have EVER been turned upon the Current Occupant, whose “accomplishments” dwarf those of both Nixon and Jimmy Carter. Carter benefited, in part, for a press that was much more complaisant than ever they should have been, but even then, some of the worst excesses leaked out, enough so that Carter was doomed to a one-term presidency.
And Carter was an “honest” chief executive, as these things go. Couldn’t say the same for most of his subordinates.
“Stonewall” is a word that should never have been retired from the daily vocabulary.
