I think I would have given a warning honk of the horn (a short one) and then floored it, especially if my kids and wife were in the car with me.

Don’t get out of the car EVER...if the gang is that violent, accelerate slowly but steadily, it doesn’t take too many of them to lift the car...do not stop, if you injure or kill a few, oh well!
Unfortunately young punks are stupid (otherwise they would not be young punks). When they are in a mob they are even stupider. Mobs think they hare safe in numbers.
One of these incidents is going to end with a lot of young punks dying and/or getting seriously injured ... that is sad since they are so young and so stupid, but that’s what it is going to take for the surviving stupid young punks to think ahead a little bit.

The survival instinct in me would say to floor it and turn the thugs into speed bumps, but you also know every news outlet in the country would have you as the lead news story for months with “Murderous racist runs over poor innocent children who were simply out having fun with their friends- Story at 11”.
